Georg Wilsberg actually only wants to do his best friend Manni a favor: he is supposed to prove that the car accident of Manni's uncle was caused by third parties, although all the evidence speaks against it. Reluctantly, but under emotional pressure, the private investigator from Münster makes his way to Silke Buschfeld, the only witness to the accident. The fact that the journalist quickly gets caught up in contradictions makes Wilsberg sit up and take notice: what has she to keep secret? When he finds out that Silke's friend Hans Haffner was also at the scene of the accident, this question seems to be answered. But before the detective Silke Buschfeld can be questioned, she is found murdered in her apartment.
