Theme Notes Series 290: Let’s Pretend
Play School’s series ‘Let’s pretend’ aims to nurture the imagination, creativity and a sense of wonder.
Imaginative play not only provides enjoyment to young children, but it also helps them understand the real world and their place in it. It can also help them learn about experiences and people they may not directly come into contact with.
Language, social and cognitive ability are also developed through imaginative play. A strong sense of imagination and creativity assists children become confident problem solvers.

How to Make a Jungle Tree House
You will need:
- Three cardboard uprights for tree trunks
Two 30cm cardboard circles, painted green
- Green crepe paper cut into small pieces for leaves
- Long strips of twisted crepe paper for vines
- Craft made monkeys, elephant and parrots
Make two slits on the edge of each tree trunk, one towards the bottom and another towards the top
