Steve returns from Washington, confronts Jack about pursuing Kayla, and declares he intends to marry her. He buys Kayla an engagement ring and plans a romantic evening. Jack, showing signs of illness, gets Jo’s old ring to propose himself. Jo sees this and becomes suspicious about the ring’s past. Victor manipulates Adrienne by giving her $10,000 to leave Justin. When a debt collector threatens her mother over Duke’s debt, Adrienne uses the money to pay him off, unaware Anjelica engineered the situation. Justin, confused by her sudden distance, tries to reach her. Adrienne insists they don’t belong together. At the Cheating Heart, Justin sings “Give Me Wings” to her, but she leaves, unable to face their relationship.
