Mike confirms Pete’s paralysis is psychological, while Melissa and Lars clash over her future. Kayla invites Steve to breakfast; he appears in a towel before learning Orpheus has escaped. They warn Roman and Marlena, interrupting their reunion. Roman learns two officers are dead and vows to protect Marlena. Shawn and Carrie celebrate the news they’re safe. Later, Steve and Kayla share an awkward, intimate evening as he insists on staying to protect her. Roman and Marlena revisit the street where she was taken. Roman admits he’d never forgive Orpheus if Marlena had died. They cling to each other, ready to go home—unaware Orpheus watches from above.
