A machine maker based in Yokohama City found itself in the headlines in 2020 when police arrested the president and two other men for allegedly exporting a device that was subject to strict security controls. They maintained their innocence but were detained for almost a year. One man died during that time. It was only through rigorous testing by employees at the firm that prosecutors were finally convinced to drop the case.
