Maeve's scientific brain has her questioning if God does exist and not getting the answers to her questions, decides not to make her Holy Communion. Caitríona, having made elaborate plans for that day, tries to pacify her but Maeve is not for turning. Caitríona uses the promise of a trip to London to change her mind but it is Máire's strong belief and faith that has Maeve believing in a higher power.
