We all like a classic show tune, don’t we? And likeable celebrities having a good old go at something slightly out of their comfort zone? And, of course, former cricketer and Ashes Hero Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff? Enter All Star Musicals, hosted by Flintoff, who opens the show with a mega musical medley, and addresses the elephant in the room: what’s he doing there? He’s joined by Michael Crawford, who’s spent three weeks coaching seven stars of varying wattage – Tony Robinson, Denise Lewis, Rebecca Front, Nicky Campbell, Sally Phillips, Lucy Fallon (Corrie’s Bethany) and Michael Parr (Emmerdale’s Ross) – in the dark arts of musical theatre. Each performs an all-singing, mostly dancing number on the London Palladium stage, and, at the end, the audience vote for their favourite.
