John Peel visits Cowley Road in Oxford with its many pubs and music venues, visits the local Rover factory with experimental jazz jungle artist Pat Thomas, and visits Oxford United's Manor Road for a benefit concert held to save the ground organised by local group the Samurai Seven. DJ Juno takes Peel to an ancient stone circle which she bought from the council to save it from commercialisation. Peel visits the base of techno synth band Lab 4 and concludes his visit to Oxford with a demonstration by James Sewards of his unique guitar playing.

John Peel continues his musical foray in the valleys of South Wales. He visits Rockaway Records in Newport, where he talks with the proprietor Simon Phillips about the local music scene. Also in Newport he talks with Richard Parfitt and Mike Cole of the group 60 Foot Dolls about the economic situation in Wales. In the Welsh hillsides he meets artist and singer-songwiter Lucie Chivers, who talks about the influence of landscape on her work. In Cwmaman, he meets Jason Knott the frontman of the group Reviver Gene who talks about life in the ex-mining town. Artist David Garner talks about his work, which is made from artifacts salvaged from closed pits and forms a commentary on the resulting unemployment. Electronic musician Richard Thomas talks to John about his approach to ambient sound. The programme ends with John Peel attending a performance by Reviver Gene at the TJ's venue in Newport.

Mark and Josh run 'Shady Acorn' which manufactures and disribute vinyl 12" records across the world and sells betwee 3 and 1000. Prolific Paul Butler started a recording studioand has been involved in 5 albums on the Holistic label. Max Brennan is another prolific self recorder. Lucy, lead singer of 'Void' is content but may need to move to London.
