Welcome to Strawberry Land, the charming and peaceful home of Strawberry Shortcake and her fruit-filled friends, where rivers of strawberry juice flow past homes made of pastry! But all is not well in this picturesque paradise. The presence of the Purple Pieman of Porcupine Peak and his beastly Berry Birds threatens their tranquil existence.

''Strawberry Shortcake in Big Apple City'' chronicles Strawberry Shortcake's trip to Big Apple City (an obvious parallel to New York City, also known as the "Big Apple"), so she can compete in a baking contest at "the little theater off Times Pear" (referencing Times Square). Strawberry's journey, however, is in jeopardy due to the constant interference of the Strawberry Shortcake Villains, who is her only competition in the bake-off. The Pieman counts on his kohlrabi cookies and a little trickery to beat Strawberry and her famous shortcake. A "Spinach Village" is also mentioned, a reference to Greenwich Village.

Strawberry Shortcake and her cat Custard are hosting and judging a pet show, but the Purple Pieman and Sour Grapes plotting to have their pets win by cheating.

When Strawberry Shortcake moves into her new house, all her friends in Strawberryland throw her a surprise housewarming party, and they even invite several new friends that she had recentlly met on a trip around the world; Mint Tulip from the Netherlands, Cafe Ole from Mexico, Crepe Suzette from France, Almond Tea from China, and the British twins, Lem and Ada. They all bring their pets and favorite recipes, too. The party is going great until the sinister Peculiar Purple Pieman from Porcupine Peak sneaks in and steals all the food, along with Lem & Ada, who are hiding in the box they brought containing the recipes. To get them and her new recipe box back, Strawberry Shortcake and all her friends must work together to outwit the Pieman and Sour Grapes.

Strawberry Shortcake and the Baby Without a Name chronicles Strawberry Shortcake's annual summer camping trip, where she and her friends encounter a monster in the woods. The Peculiar Purple Pie Man and Sour Grapes attempt to capture it to become rich and famous.

Strawberry Shortcake and her friends meet the Berry Princess and her Berrykins who give the berries and other fruits their smells, but Peculiar Purple Pieman's cloud machine is giving them the wrong smells.
