Roman surprises Marlena with breakfast in bed. At Salem Place mall, Marlena and Carrie encounter Austin, who joins them at the Brady Pub construction site. Roman is cordial but later tells Austin that Carrie seems too young for him; Austin agrees to be a "big brother" figure.
Kimberly returns to town wearing an engagement ring from Philip, a Hollywood producer. She asks Bo to keep it secret until she tells Shane. Learning that Shane plans to sell their house, Kim rushes to the realtor's office to stop him. As Shane exits and spots her across the street, a car suddenly swerves around the corner. Shane, unable to reach her in time, watches in horror as the vehicle strikes Kim down.
