Natalina is rushed to the hospital for a tachycardia attack. While Don Matteo is in the hospital to assist the housekeeper, a strange accident occurs: a doctor falls from the fourth floor of the hospital. Suicide is thought of, but Don Matteo has collected his last words: disconnected syllables apparently meaningless. To overcome the code of silence that reigns in the hospital, Anceschi decides to infiltrate Cecchini as a nurse in the ward. The marshal, with the help of Don Matteo, will discover a strange round of drugs and medicines; and some mysterious deaths...
