Lars Monsen has set himself a soaring goal: to win the Iditarod in Alaska, the world's longest sled dog race, over 1800 km. Now it's time for the 1000 km long "Finnmarksløpet". Two of his most important dogs can't race, Queen injures a toe, and Fischer has gotten sick, without them ever fully knowing what is wrong with him. Lars is well placed in the race when Fischer's situation worsens.
