Steve refuses to believe Adrienne is his sister, her knowledge of his past triggering painful childhood memories. At Kim’s trial, the prosecution tears apart the defense: Alex claims Kim threatened Emma, Neil admits she asked him to drug her, and Shane confesses they kidnapped Emma to find Andrew. Lesley pushes the idea Shane is protecting Kim out of love, causing chaos in court.
At the hospital, traumatized Max stops speaking. Frankie blames Jennifer and rejects her help, but when he tries to sneak Max out, Steve intervenes and convinces him to return. Max speaks again, and Frankie reconciles with Jennifer.
Kayla witnesses Steve and Adrienne’s confrontation, but Adrienne insists Steve must reveal his own secret. When Kayla sings Max a lullaby Steve remembers from his mother, he’s emotionally shaken. Flashbacks of a childhood fire overwhelm him, and he collapses at his apartment door as Kayla tries to reach him. Kim and Shane share an anguished moment after court adjourns.
