All Souls’ Day is traditionally a time in the church calendar dedicated to remembering those who have died, and on this Sunday, the Rev Kate Bottley visits Christians in the Midlands to explore faith, grief and bereavement. She meets Yvonne Tulloch, founder of the At a Loss charity, who talks about her own personal journey of grief and how it inspired her to found an organisation offering courses and resources to help people on their bereavement journey. Kate then visits Riverside Church in Moseley, which has embraced the charity’s holistic approach to grief and become their first bereavement-friendly church. We meet a fourth-generation funeral director, who reflects on the role religion can play when faced with loss and talks about his initiative for death and grief to be included in the national school curriculum.
