As a favor to the local parish priest, Enrico hosts Peppino, an orphan boy who is fond of detective stories and thrillers. Arlette, a beautiful French girl; Ursula Bonetti, a mysterious brunette woman; and two newlyweds also arrive in the village. Enrico immediately woos the girl, but she disappears under mysterious circumstances.
