Six months after the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, rural communities are struggling to rebuild. Only some residents have returned and extensive damage to infrastructure remains. Concerns about the cost of rebuilding have led to calls for towns to be made more compact, while some communities face the risk of vanishing entirely.
