Gerald implores Frere to call a truce with Sir Edward as Frere's shares begin to plummet. Fearing his father's takeover of American subsidiaries, Frere must fly to New York and begs Avril to go with him. Ken and Sarah have a proposal for Richard, while Jan receives a surprise proposal her own. Two paper millionaires are born in Tarrant, and a familiar face returns. Tom breaks the news of a tragic accident.
