Selma is 9 years old and, since her parents died in an accident, has lived with Ruth, a rather strict neighbor lady who was only supposed to be temporarily responsible for Selma and her dog Casper. Selma dreams that she has a real family that she doesn't know about. We also see a completely different universe, Snøfall, a small village that lies by itself in an icy wasteland. Here we meet Julius, who is Santa Claus himself!
