A tale of war that took place 2,000 years ago, and changed our whole world. Ancient Rome made its mark on our present, from some of the most widely spoken languages such as English, Spanish and French, through architecture arts and city planning and not through democratic rule, Rome's resonances are high to this day. But, before Rome became a sprawling empire, it was once a small city on the banks of the Mediterranean, populated by strength and rivalry by another city on the other bank of the sea: this city is Carthage. From Carthage, Rome's fiercest enemy, and its worst nightmare, Hannibal Barca, who stood on its doors on one of its worst days and threatened to silence her voice forever.
