Koopa kidnaps Luigi, Princess and Toad, along with a trunk of gold coins they were transporting across Sudden Death Valley, leaving Mario to die in the heat. A native Mushroom named Pronto comes to Mario's rescue, and Mario takes on the role of the Provolone Ranger in order to rescue his friends.
