A geological expedition sets out for a remote and chilly destination to take core samples in a quarry. The overnight trip will include videotaping and documenting the search for pre-historic strata and mineral deposits. While drilling, a burst of smoke and steam stuns the workers. As time progresses, they mysteriously begin to show signs of physical and mental distress.
