The interpreters Behrouz and Sidiq have been working for the Norwegian soldiers in Maimana for several years. They are threatened by the Taliban and fear for life. The soldiers have now left the province of Faryab and the interpreting missions have ended. Both Behrouz and Sidiq have sought Norwegian authorities for protection in Norway, but have not yet received any clarification. In the military camp that the Afghan army has taken over from the Norwegian soldiers, the hospital doctor discovers that he cannot treat wounded soldiers because most of the equipment has been removed and sent to Norway. The people celebrate the holiday Id, when a suicide bomber acts against the mosque in Maimana.
