We can see Bert is relieved to be leaving his present responsibilities as a husband and father. Jack confronts Maggie about her taking Dave up to her room. Kitty and Terry and Tom go to the Show, a last contact with childhood for Tom. Bert comes home from the pub and pays Mrs. J. the rent he owes and a week in advance - where has the money come from?
