Boring beams are enhanced with cross beams; a dated fireplace gets a new faux stone surround and sleek porcelain tile, and a boring wall gets 5 custom "floating" shelves for the homeowner's beloved books. Finally, an underused formal dining area becomes family friendly, and a damaged hardwood floor is refinished.
