As Scotland takes the brunt of the winter storms, snowplough driver Chris Smith tries to clear Applecross Pass in the Scottish Highlands. The road is a lifeline for the locals, but as the storms continue, he faces an uphill battle clearing snowdrifts amid gale force winds. Meanwhile, patrolman Steve Forrester is called out to help a driver stuck in the mud on a building site - but has to be careful not to get trapped himself - and in Northampton, heavy road recovery specialists deal with a serious accident involving a lorry on a busy road.
