Tilda Renström works at the Swedish Migration Agency's detention center in Karkebo, but wants nothing more than to get her former job back as a prosecutor. When a girl from the town disappears and suspicions are directed at the storage facility, Tilda sees her chance. At the refugee detention center there is a Somali man called Tjugofyran. He says he can help Tilda find the girl, but he expects something in return.

Despite her previous misconduct, Tilda has regained her job at the prosecutor's office in Uppsala, but she has her eyes on her. She is assigned to the investigation of the man who was found dead in his car with his head in the backseat. She feels pressured and realizes that she needs Twenty-four's help. But as a prosecutor, Tilda has no contact with the refugee detention center anymore, and therefore not with Tjugofyran either. Does she now have to break the rules again?

Tilda is heavily employed by both the media and her father. She is pressured to achieve results but is constantly pushed down by her successful sister Beata. A forged piece of evidence forces the police to dismantle the investigation, but Mats Drevlid is determined to expose the saboteur. At the same time, Tjugofouran suddenly makes a decisive discovery, which gives Tilda wind in her sails. A man is murdered in what appears to be a gang showdown. The murder seems to be connected to the investigation that got Tilda dismissed as prosecutor. Now she sees a chance for redress, but the false asylum application Tilda made for Tjugofyran creates problems with their cooperation. As a cover, Tjugofouran takes a job as a bicycle messenger and by following in the footsteps of the murdered man, a complex picture begins to emerge. But it is a high game the two play as Mats Drevlid's search for the truth causes the noose to tighten around them.

Tilda has a hard time keeping her desire for revenge at bay and in a fit of emotion arrests a man whom Tjugofouran believes is innocent. Tilda's sister Beata is the defendant's defense lawyer and she and Tilda meet in court. From the audience stand, Mats realizes that he is not alone in his distrust of Tilda's competence. The twenty-four continue the search for the truth and come into contact with a man who knew the victim. Suddenly he is face to face with the killer and Tilda realizes that she is about to lose the person she cannot live without.
