A young delivery cyclist is run over by a car on a side street in Berlin. The traffic accident quickly turns out to be a murder. Susanne Bonard and Robert Karow search the victim's surroundings for clues: The deceased, Tomás Rey, came from Venezuela and lived with his brother Luis and a friend in a shared apartment. All three had no valid residency permits and were living and working in Berlin under false names. The victim had a relationship with an older woman: Annika Haupt, a security employee at the Federal Printing Office. The detectives suspect a connection. However, nothing is missing from the Federal Printing Office. The security measures make any theft impossible. Gradually, Bonard and Karow uncover a larger scheme. But who are the masterminds, and is the deceased's grieving lover involved?
