Having moved to the village to be closer to ailing father Alan, the Boothe family try hard to settle in, with Sally taking a nursing position at the health centre and husband Billy starting a new job at the paper factory. Meanwhile, Karen spends more time with long-lost son Russell - not realising she's pushing David out of the equation - and hairdresser Gloria prepares for daughter Tamsin's forthcoming wedding.
