Michael disguised himself as a barman at Manchester's Marriott Hotel, in order to surprise the actor during an interview for the regional news programme Northwest Tonight, which included the actress Susan Hampshire.
Among those paying tribute to Tim are actors Edward Woodward and Robson Greene and singer Robbie Williams.
