Marie narrowly avoids being shot when Kappes mistakes her for a wolf. While she checks for rabies, Kappes and other villagers blame the mythical “Hackestüpp” werewolf, convinced it’s pig farmer Gisbert Cremer. On St. John’s Eve, they chase after him to stop the supposed curse.
