Half a century of apartheid in South Africa, through the testimonies of survivors and those responsible for the crimes committed. Part two: In the 1960s and 1970s, the apartheid regime became even more entrenched. While Nelson Mandela and other figures of the struggle were detained on Robben Island, the security state multiplied its covert operations.

By the late 1980s, economic sanctions and mass protests were beginning to bear fruit, and the South African regime was increasingly isolated. Under mounting pressure from the international community, Nelson Mandela was finally released in 1990, after twenty-seven years of imprisonment.
