Grandpa wants to buy the Old Mill. But Farmer Zwartjes gets greedy after receiving a cash offer from current resident Ed Bennebroeck and raises his price. Aristides has seen a portrait of the missing Van Slingelandt at the Bennebroeck place. Grandpa visits Van Slingelandt's landlady and finds himself being shadowed by a man in a white raincoat.
