Currently, the political organization of human communities is carried out mostly (if not exclusively) by States. Therefore, it is difficult for us to understand other forms of political organization. However, the State is a creation of modernity, not existing in medieval feudal societies or in ancient empires. One way to understand the difference between States and other forms of political organization is to understand what makes a State, its essential elements. In this cast we will see the characteristics of the human element of the modern State, the people.
