On the run from the police, con artist Maik swaps his fake conductor's uniform for a real cassock. With the priest's robe, he escapes the arm of the law, but not the firm hand of the parish housekeeper Maria, who considers him to be the eagerly awaited new church council. Unbaptized and anything but innocent, the Berlin petty criminal suddenly becomes the Catholic pastor of the Apostle Church in Läuterberg.
