But when best friend Ana convinces her to attend a pool party, EJ accidentally catches the eye of popular jock Marco Sanchez... and things start to spiral. After being thrown into the pool and tumbling through a mysterious portal, EJ finds herself in Estonasia, a magical, parallel universe plagued by dangerous creatures called Asgals and a failing military. Turns out she looks exactly like the Empire’s missing general—and now she must pretend to be her… or risk everything.

As tensions rise in the Empire, EJ is relieved of her “Impersonate the General” duties by Aia, the Royal Princess of Estonasia. Aia and her brother, Prince Tai, are EJ’s new allies—but while they seem to help her navigate this strange world, they’re also using her for their own gain. EJ becomes increasingly focused on uncovering her father’s connection to the Empire and convinces Tai to take her to the Festival of the Eclipse, hoping to find more answers. But the visit takes an unexpected turn when, amidst the crowd, she sees a man who is a dead ringer for her father—only to have the situation spiral into danger as another Asgal attack erupts during the festival.

EJ has a new mission: find General Mångata and uncover his connection to her late father. But she can't do it alone. With the help of Reyis, an awkward but cute physics genius, EJ sets off on another journey outside the palace. Meanwhile, tensions mount between Aia and her mother, Empress Reo, as the Empire’s council debates the recent attack during the Festival of the Eclipse. When EJ returns to the palace, she finds herself faced with an important decision—one that could bring them a step closer to discovering the whereabouts of the missing General Luna.

As Estonasia prepares for an international summit, EJ becomes more in tune with her newly discovered powers with the guidance of General Mångata. Aia, Tai and the Empress help her prepare for the summit, but her anxiety grows as she worries about maintaining the facade she’s created. Meanwhile, romance begins to blossom between EJ and Reyis, but a surprise attack during the Summit Gala quickly pulls them back to reality.
