Olivier Tronier, a real estate agent, is going through a rough patch. Divorced, broke, father of a teenage daughter in crisis, son of an irresponsible father, he's finding it hard to keep his head above water and has taken to squatting in the apartments he's supposed to sell. When his mother dies, he learns that he has inherited a building in the heart of Paris. A solution to his material problems? In reality, it's a ruin housing a single tenant, Liliane Petresco, who has no intention of moving. From one disappointment to another, Olivier finds himself with a goldfish as his only confidant.

Desperate, Olivier decides to sign a contract with Simon Elmaleh, a dubious property developer. But problems are piling up. His father is up to his ears in his new retirement home, his teenage daughter can't stand him, and it becomes clear that the building he owns is an airlock to the past. On his first leap back in time, Olivier meets a child, Clotilde, who encourages him to apply for a job as concierge. After his father's "resurrection", Olivier picks up where he left off. He stands up to Simon, who threatens to chase away Madame Petresco, who has become his friend, and meets Clotilde, the little girl in the building, now grown up. But it's in the past that he'll find the resources to pay off his debts and see his mother again. Perhaps the time has come for reconciliation.
