After sleeping with mobster Joey Gamarra's daughter, New Jersey restaurateur Louis Thomas must flee to California with his mother, Rita, and brother, Alex. Once there, the brothers get jobs at chic restaurant Zavatti where, unknown to the boys, a close relative of theirs, Peter Evans, is the manager. Meanwhile Andrea Zavatti breaks off her relationship with her boyfriend, George, and gets some comfort from the Thomas brothers.
