In this episode Joe meets an eager couple about to take on their first empty home. He shows them a commercial unit that with some careful planning and imagination could become an amazing house. They discover that taking on such a building could really maximise their budget and give them the freedom to build a unique home. Joe then takes them to meet a family who took on an old barn and converted it, with impressive results. There is also a look at a community in the north east of England that is campaigning to get streets of empty properties renovated and made into family homes once more. Plus, the programme follows Dave Carter, a north London empty property officer, as he tackles the issues caused by vacant properties.
