In "The Circle of Souls", a few hours old baby is found in a basket floating on Lake Constance – wrapped in a sheet smeared with mysterious, historical symbols. When Rita Hafner, who disappeared without a trace 6 months ago and was thought to be dead, is found to be the mother during a DNA analysis, Oberländer and Zeiler have to admit that they have made mistakes in the course of their police work. When another murder occurs parallel to the renewed search for Rita Hafner and Zeiler unsuspectingly falls into the clutches of the perpetrator, both Oberländer and Komlatschek are forced to cross their borders...
