Commander Spagnolo, accused of deliberately killing a young man from the suburbs during a robbery, will be tried. He asks Olivia to defend him following the dismissal of his lawyer in whom he has lost confidence. He assures him that it was self-defense and that the death of the young man was an accident. Olivia has one condition: that he tell her the truth. This pact between them will be put to the test as OIivia discovers that Spagnolo is hiding a heavy family secret that could be linked to the death of the young man.
