Choujin Sentai Jetman

Jet Icarus is the first robot called in to tackle Radiege. They're fighting a losing battle when Jet Garuda arrives, piloted by Ayachokan. The two robots form together and the odds improve, but they are still losing. They call in Jet-Robo. The little blue robot punches Radiege in the back, and as his giant monster-self turns, the Jetmen see a raw, gaping wound. It is the injury from when Maria stabbed him. The robots separate. Ryu stays in Jet Garuda. Radiege tears one arm off of Jet Icarus. Garuda catches him by both arms and Ryu orders his companions to stab Radiege through his wound. They protest, knowing this action will destroy Garuda and possibly cause Ryu's death. When they finally obey, Radiege is destroyed. A slow, painful loss of blood, then a huge explosion as his form loses its integrity. The robots all go down. With the Vyram dead (or permanently institutionalized as in Toranza's case), the Jetmen go back to living the life of normal humans. Three years later, Ako is a rising singing star, Lyta has married his childhood sweetheart, Ryu and Kaori are marrying each other, and Gai has become a successful businessman. While he is out buying flowers for his friends' wedding, Gai stops a mugger from stealing a woman's purse. But the mugger stabs Gai with a small knife. The wedding ceremony over, all guests come outside for photos and farewells. Ryu finds Gai sitting on a bench. Gai looks wan and exhausted, says it's because he overworked yesterday. They get their picture taken together, and Ryu goes off to join his wife and the others. Kaori asks, "Isn't Gai coming?" Ryu says, "He's very tired." Kaori and Gai exchange reassuring smiles across the distance. Ryu sees Rie's ghost one last time, smiling and waving farewell to him. Gai dies on the bench.

A wave of energy called "Birdnic" is discovered and scientists develop a way to harness the energy and bond it to humans. Odagiri Ayachokan (Chokan for short) has to recruit five people for the project. She comes upon Tendo Ryu and his lover Aoi Rie working for the ground forces, rescuing civilians from a malfuntioning laser-robot. She invites them to join Project J, and Rie accepts upon her reassurance that their personal relationship is not a problem. Ryu is the first endowed with the Jetman link. It is an excrutiating experience. Just as they finish with him, the Vyram arrive. Their leader, Radiege, broadcasts his image in the sky, through mirrors and other surfaces announcing the Vyram as Earth's new masters. With the space-station under attack, Chokan and Rie drag the recovering Ryu towards the launch bay. However, a hole is torn in the wall and Rie is lost, her fingers slipping out of Ryu's weakened hold. Chokan knocks him out and escapes the space station dragging him with her. The damaged machine sends out the other four beams randomly. A young woman dressed in a kimono, standing on the balcony of her family's mansion, a farmer out working his small vegetable patch with a hoe, a girl walking home from high-school, and a young man out on his motorcycle are hit. A strange, gigantic insect-monster is prowling around ingesting people, leaving only their empty clothes behind. Each time its thorax grows. Later it seperates from the thorax, and the Vyram draw forth their bio-changers, created with the life energy of humans. These things transform everyday objects into creatures. Chokan has to break harsh reality to a semi-hysterical Ryu that Rie is dead. "Pull yourself together, man!" The Jetman monitors are registering the other four people and Chokan takes Ryu with her to claim them. First they find the young lady in the mansion. Rokumekan Kaori is a sweet woman, and very patriotic. Despite Ryu's odd behavior she is enthusiastic about being a Jetman and defending Earth from evil. She accepts the bracelets that will let her communicate and change into costume. But she is the only easy one. When the three of them find the farmer Oishi Lyta, he reacts with irritation. This is too fantastical for him, a down-to-Earth kind of guy, to believe. He refuses to go with them. Kaori offers to stay and talk to him while Chokan and Ryu find the remaining two. Lyta, whose farming life does not attract women of her caliber, enjoys giving her a tour of his greenhouses and sharing healthy fresh cucumbers with her. Just then the farm comes under attack as the Bairamu drop their faceless minions onto a furious Lyta's vegetable garden. Chokan and Ryu are flying their jets over the city when Radiege uses a bio-changer to transform Chokan's jet into a living creature. She is able to eject before it can ingest her. Ryu comes to help Lyta and Kaori, giving Lyta his bracelet and the two change for the first time. The aliens are amused by this trio of amateur fighters and wait to see what develops. The Vyram are Radiege, Maria, Gure, Toran and the faceless minions.

Yuuchi Gai is a gambler and a card shark. Winning a game with a young woman, he gives her money back and invites her to his place. As they are leaving, a bouncer accosts Gai, accusing him of cheating (and probably he was). Gai punches the man who goes flying down the alley. The shocked young man runs off into the night. Hayasaka Ako is walking past the athletics team when she stops to stare at the high jump. Following an urge she doesn't really understand, she gives her friends her briefcase and runs to take a flying leap over the high jump. The coach is ecstatic and begs her to compete in the meet after school that day. The girl is willing... for money. Kaori and Lyta arrive in her family car just after the meet, and talk Ako into going off with them. Kaori explains about the Jetman and Ako's new powers. The girl finds it astonishing, but hints strongly that she'll do it for money (she's rather a greedy teenager). Kaori writes her out a hefty check. As Ako is gaping at her ship come in, Kaori puts the bracelets on her. It is at this moment the Vyram's faceless minions attack. Gai is playing saxaphone at his day-job, his thoughts dwelling upon the events of the night before. While he's distracted, he accidently crushes his sax. Then a hand falls onto his shoulder. "We have to talk," the stranger, Ryu, says. Having explained the situation to him, they find he wants no part of it. This doesn't involve him, he has better things to do. While Chokan watches in exasperation, the two men get in a fist-fight, smashing up the garage, car windows as they generally try to beat each other. Just then the communicator warbles with Kaori and Lyta's distress call. Ryu and Chokan race off to help. Gai scrambles to his feet. "Hey! I'm not finished with you yet!" and pursues them on his motorcycle. Without realizing it, he is able to follow them because of the Jetman link. But he is captured by the Jet-monster, which carries him into the air. Under Ryu's attack it drops him, and Ryu is able to get him the bracelet so he changes and flys. Lyta and Kaori change into costume. Ako wants to follow suit but doesn't know which bracelet to use. "The RIGHT one!" Kaori tells her. The five together fight. Ryu is able to destroy the jet-monster by setting fire to oil leaking from a damaged hose on the thing. Gai is forced to help defeat the insect monster, which is destroyed by their combined firepower. Ako returns Kaori's check to her. She will be receiving a government paycheck anyway, and now she really wants to be a Jetman. Gai punches Ryu in the gut and tosses the bracelets back to him saying he's not a freak like them. He rides away on his motorcycle. Ryu knows they have to have him with them. Throwing away the bracelets won't change what he now is.

A man is woken in the night by the sink-faucet dripping. He tightens the handle but as he turns away it starts to run. Suddenly the puzzled man is sucked into the water faucet. When it runs again, blood comes out. Toran watches and laughs. Ako, Kaori and Lyta train learn karate with Chokan, who is wiping the floor with them. "How come Ryu isn't here getting trashed?" they whine. "He's off trying to bring in Gai," she responds. Kaori says desperately, "Let's go help him!" The others are all for it, but Chokan vetoes the proposed evasion of practice. Later, they are dragging tires up a hill. The girls fall behind Lyta and sneakily tie their tires to his. He reaches the top and rolls back down, exhausted. A water fountain appears behind him and he scrambles for a drink, but draws back in horror when blood comes out. The three are occupied for a time with fighting. It is not a serious attack, however. Ryu chases Gai across town on motorcycles. At one point he disrupts Gai's attempt to pick up a pretty cop. Exasperated, Gai finally makes a deal. They will have a motorcycle race. If Gai wins Ryu must leave him alone, if Ryu wins he will join the team, not without complaining every step of the way. Their race is interrupted when Ryu turns to help three children under attack by a hose. Gai believes he's won and mouths off, but when he tries to leave finds a hose has twined itself in the wheel of his motorcycle. The hose turns into a large water-faucet froggish being and Ryu saves Gai from being strangled by it, only to get caught himself. Seeing many Bairamu creatures bearing down on them, Gai flees. The other three get back to Sky-camp rather bruised from their experience, to see Ryu on the monitors getting thrashed and calling for help. They rush off to try to help. Their inexperience and fear tells against them. As Gai rides away he can't keep from thinking about the things Ryu has said to him, and the guy left all alone to fight. He half-feels impacts as Ryu is struck, and before he really realizes it, he has turned around. He collides with the faucet-monster, freeing the others from its hoses. They are ecstatic to see him. He drinks in their praise and doesn't even flinch when Ryu closes the bracelets on his wrists. They change and destroy the faucet monster.

Kaori is having trouble learning to fly Jetswan. She crashes during the training sessions. When Chokan and Ryu insist that it is absolutely necessary for her to apply herself and not think of herself as a debutante, she leaves in a huff. While she is at home pouting, her butler ushers in a bunch of servants carrying bouquets of flowers. Her long-standing psuedo-boyfriend has arrived and takes her to dinner to ask her to marry him. "Your parents like me, we'd be uniting the two richest families in Japan." She tells him that first she has a job to do, protecting the Earth. He bursts out laughing, thinking it a great joke. As he drives her home she insists it's true and he salutes her cheerfully. On the way back they encounter Radiege's traffic-light monster. Kaori calls in the team and they manage to drive it off for the time being. Her boyfriend is horrified at their insistence that Kaori come with them to fight. He is offended that Ryu has the temerity to lecture her. Gai asks, "just what is your stake in this?" "I've asked her to marry me!" When Ryu tells her she can't be selfish and she has to come with them. She gets angry and tells her boyfriend she wants to get married right away. Just then Chokan signals them saying they have to go now to fight the monster. They start to dash off when they realize Kaori isn't coming. Ryu turns and says to her, "We'll wait for you. We know you can do it." At the church she can't concentrate on the wedding. Her mind is filled with Ryu's words and the ghostly echoes of her teammates' injuries as they fight. In the midst of the ceremony she realizes she has to be with them. Her boyfriend tries to get her to go through with the ceremony, revealing himself as an elitist when he tells her she's much too good to be involved with these low-class people anyway. She's becoming hysterical, the urge to go overpowering and finally she lashes out, connecting her foot rather firmly with his family jewels. In front of the church she crosses herself, tosses the bouquet aside and steals someone's motorcycle to beeline for the fight. The others are ecstatic to see her. Then they call in the planes which they would not do without her. She is doing okay with the flying until she takes a direct energy blast from the monster. The crash is a bad one.

Kaori's nerves are in shock. She cannot use her legs and is confined to a wheelchair. She must force herself and her legs to work, but that is far easier said than done. In practice flights she cannot operate the floor pedals though she tries gamely. The others follow her around semi- discreetly as she attempts to walk and fails. Gai finds it agony to watch her struggle. When she falls out of the chair one time and is struggling to get back in, he rushes to help her. Ryu makes him back off and encourages Kaori to try. Just then they are attacked by Toran and Gure. Ryu sends Gai to get Kaori out of the battle area. The wheelchair is caught on a train-track, but he gets them across in time. Gure comes after them, and Gai grabs his motorcycle and collides with him, but this has little effect other than to injure Gai's hand and show that Gure can just stand up from a small explosion. They hide out in a warehouse and Kaori uses her kerchief to bandage Gai's bleeding hand. The conversation about whether or not Kaori can live being crippled generates a remark by him which leads her to slap Gai and then apologize profusely (I think he must have said "Well at least you can still have sex", or something like that). Gure almost gets them until the traffic-light monster causes a small earthquake as it frees itself from the underground cave it's been hiding out in while recovering from the last battle. In pitched battle against Maria, Ryu discovers the Bairamu woman looks exactly like Rie. A second quake breaks the ground, and Kaori falls through the crack. Ryu catches her hand and hangs on for all he's worth. Maria takes advantage of his position and tries to strangle him with her whip, since he can't fight her and hold Kaori at the same time. Kaori finally forces her legs to work, jumping out of the crack and striking at Maria to get her away from Ryu. The team defeats the traffic-light monster by first-time formation of Icarus-Haaken. After it is over, Kaori thanks Ryu for his faith in her. They are about to shake hands when Gai shoves his way between them, giving her back the handkerchief. Lyta asks Kaori what happened to her fiancee. She demonstrates on him. (ouch)

Radiege turns an apartment building into a people-eating monster. The Jetman are learning to form Jet Icarus but Gai is having difficulty subordinating his control of the ship when he must for the planes to form together. After arguing with Ryu he takes off, followed by Kaori. They go to an outdoor cafe where, despite her efforts to discuss teamwork, the conversation deals with Gai's opinion that he could have any woman, so why won't Kaori go out with him? He turns and picks up the pretty waittress and leaves with her when Kaori refuses. The waitress lives in a nearby apartment building. Of course the one that Radiege used a bio-changer on. Gai is nearly eaten by it. Ryu frees him, but is kidnapped by Radiege for one-on-one combat. The Bairamu leader hates humans passionately, and when Ryu manages to slice his face, in a fury Radiege transforms into a monster. When the others realize Ryu is missing they nearly panic, but they must call in their planes and Gai becomes de-facto leader, using automatics to form Jet-Icarus. In the middle of the fight, Gai leaps out and smashes his way into the apartment wherein Radiege has trapped Ryu. Gai rescues Ryu, tells him he owes him one, now. They destroy the building monster.

All over town, people are getting sucked into mirrors while staring at their reflections. A young boy primping his be-bop haircut, a woman trying on new clothes at the department store... A little old white-haired lady hurries onto the rush-hour train. When a young man will not give up his seat to her, she starts whacking him on the head. Off the train she is hurrying by a tennis court when a ball falls and hits her right on the head. A tall young man comes rushing out to see if she's all right, and the frustrated old lady grabs his hand and flips him. Then she takes a good look at him and calls him by name. This is Kinuyo Tendo, and she is Ryu's old grandmother. She has decided it is high time a responsible young man like him should get married. So she has come with a picture of a sweet girl from a good family to introduce Ryu and the girl to each other. Ryu cannot find a way to beg off without deeply offending her. Chokan finds the news nothing less than irritating. Gai offers to help Ryu get out of this, prompting Lyta to check his temperature to see if he's ill Ryu, looking extremely uncomfortable and irritated in a nice suit, is having dinner with the demure young woman and his grandma. Lyta, dressed sleazily, arrives at the table and demands Ryu pay his gambling debts. Kaori arrives in a slinky red dress claiming Ryu's her boyfriend and how dare he leave her for another woman. She gives the other girl quite an offended glare. In the midst of their act a scream outside sends them running to see a girl getting sucked into her pocket-mirror. They battle against the mirror monster which grabs Ryu, and Kaori karate-chops its tentacle. They manage to drive it off for now. Grandmother Tendo makes the Jetmen all a fine traditional Japanese dinner, as Ryu tries and TRIES to explain to her that he does not want to meet women,he is too busy with dangerous work for that right now. She pays him no attention. She watches from behind trees as Ryu walks with the girl, Emiko, next to a lake. Ryu is explaining that his job makes it impossible to get involved just at this moment. The girl counters that she already has a fiancee, it's just that there is no way to politely refuse the old lady, except to go through with the meeting and then say he was not satisfactory. Besides, she thinks there is someone closer to him who loves him (thinking of the look on Kaori's face, which Ryu did not see). A moment later the mirror monster sucks her up. The Jetman fight the mirror monster, and Maria warns them mockingly that they cannot break its surface, or the people trapped inside it will die. Caught between a rock and a hard place they get the worst of the battle. When all seems lost and the monster is about to blast them, Grandma Tendo steps out from the bushes and uses her pocket-mirror to reflect the monster's beam back away, catching Maria, who must release everyone to get herself free. The Jetmen defeat the mirror-monster. Walking together some days later, Ryu shows the others a letter from the girl, saying she's getting married. They are delighted, and he is relieved he won't have to go through that again. However, Grandmother Tendo comes running down the path with pictures of several more girls she wants to introduce to Ryu. He runs.

A very rich Japanese man has brought his famous "Bloody Diamond" and several blue-bloods are coming to see it on display. Maria thinks this is deeply amusing, so she sets a biochanger on the diamond, which suddenly increases in size. Kaori comes to view the diamond, bringing Ako with her. When they arrive, the man flirts with both of them. Then one of the security guards comes screaming out of the back room and attacking people. Ako hands Kaori her purse and knocks the man unconcious. They tie him up in the back room when screaming and shouting breaks out in the display room. When they take the cover off the Bloody Diamond and see how large it is, everyone is delighted except the owner, who wonders what happened to the real diamond. Thus he is looking away when beams of light shoot out and send everyone into berserk greed. Kaori and Ako tear in, make the connection between the diamond and people rioting and throw it outside, where it assumes its full size as the Diamond-monster. Just as the other Jetmen arrive, Ako takes a blast full-on. Regaining consciousness the first thing she does is attack her teammates. They are forced to tie Ako up in a room, where she screams and threatens them. They take the owner of the diamond aside to demand if he can shed any light on what's happening. He relates the Bloody Diamond's bloody history. During the French Revolution men and women slaughtered each other to gain possession of it, the greed for its shining beauty overriding all else. While the others fight the Diamond monster, Kaori comes up with a scheme she thinks will work to free Ako. To the family butler's distress, she sends him all over town to buy up all the jewelry in the shops. She brings Ako to her house and literally drowns her in jewelry. Ako is gasping, unable to decide which way to turn with all these shining jewels, but it takes a sharp slap from Kaori to finally break the monster's spell. Ako blinks up at her teammate, "what'd you hit me for?" Together the team is able to defeat the monster.

In the darkness of night at a department store, Toran places a bio-changer on a sewing machine. A security guard, attracted by the sound comes in but sees nothing. Suddenly the sewing machine gathers material together and constructs a suit which it magically places on him. He stands almost mannequin-like dressed as a mafia hitman, before he begins shooting the mannequins. The team comes in to find Lyta loading his hair up with mousse. Gai remarks on the picture of a pretty high-school girl. This is Lyta's childhood friend, Satsuki. Now that she has finished high school, she is coming to meet him here in Tokyo. They haven't seen each other since they were little children, but she always cheered him on. He remembers the last time he saw her: he was in an obstacle race. He was keeping up rather nicely with the slimmer more fit chidren when they reached the muddy rice-paddy being used for the race. Determined to win, Lyta hopped through the mud like a frog, ending the race covered from head to toe but with Satsuki's enthusiastic encouragement and everyone's applause ringing in his ears. When they meet, though, he is dumbfounded. She is dressed in a slinky green mini-dress and has put sexy make-up on. She proceeds to drag him around Tokyo, following all the suggestions in the "Tokyo Date Book" and driving him half-crazy. The others find themselves fighting people dressed as ninjas and pirates. They are unable to fight effectively as they cannot hurt innocent civilians under the Bairamu's control. When Ryu thinks to summon Lyta to help, Gai demands that he not. "He needs this time, let him enjoy being with Satsuki." Ryu concedes and they continue to do the best they can. A young businessman buys Satsuki a drink. Trying to be sophisticated she takes a sip and finds the taste nauseating. Lyta takes her to a fountain to steady her, and in frustration tells her he doesn't like this person she is dressed up as. This is not the girl he's exchanged letters with all this time. She runs off, sobbing in the rain. She had done all this, trying to look sophisticated and less the country bumpkin. She runs into Toran and his Fashion-monster, who turn her into a sniper and set her to attacking the Jetmen. Lyta, recognizing her, faces her by himself. In his Yellow-Owl clothing, he leapfrogs through mud-puddles and this childhood memory breaks through the spell of the Bairamu. She falls unconscious and Lyta gathers her in his arms. Toran is astounded that she broke free of his spell. Lyta tells him that the human heart is stronger than his evil magic. They defeat the Fashion-Monster, and Lyta sees Satsuki off to the train home. She has changed into a dress that is cheerfully yellow and has no makeup. She tells him she is wearing yellow because she loves Yellow Owl, meaning of course that she loves Lyta. He waves madly, running alongside the train until he cannot do so anymore.

While walking home from school, Ako is called by Tatsuta, who is either a senior or a graduated student of her school. He is designing a new Ramen-noodle product and wants to use her to promote it. At first she refuses, but the thought of the royalties tempts her. While the young man is working on his recipe and logo, a creature steps into his small apartment. It looks adorable, like a puppy transformed into a cup-o-noodles. It tells him it is the kami or spirit of Ramen. Together they complete the recipe and logo, once getting so involved in their work that the kami forgets to refresh its water, and the young man does it for him. And one day, Ako looks up and sees to her horror a commercial playing with Ako-chan Ramen. Everyone buys it. Ako arrives at the Sky-camp to see that her fellow Jetmen also bought some and are singing the theme song. What no one knows is, Ako-ramen is contaminated with Toran's magic, and the song he plays on his flute sends everyone who ate the ramen berserk. A little girl waiting with stoic patience in line for the merry-go-round suddenly shoves her way through and ends up standing on the attendant demanding to be let on. An office worker grabbing a bite to eat instead of going out to lunch suddenly starts smashinig up the office in a fury. Gai has to knock out a woman waiting in line at the bank (or is it the post office) because she starts attacking everyone.Of course it doesn't end there. Lyta suddenly goes berserk, wanting to fight the Vyram right NOW. And in his apartment, the young man is horrified when he turns on the news and hears that these cases of violence have been linked to his Ramen. Ako comes in to demand an explanation. Laughing, the kami arrives and then transforms in a cloud of steam. Ako fights but is temporarily caught by the kami. It needs water, though, and the young man captures the kettle and races around trying to keep the kami from gettiing it. Ako breaks free and she and the other Jetmen finally destroy the Ramen monster. Afterwards, they sit together and she tells him she forgives him for causing all this trouble, whereupon he announces that Ako-chan 2 is already in the making. She threatens to whap him one.

Gure studies past battles with the Jetmen. It is his turn to attack and he is formulating a plan. Our heroes are exercising in the gym under the bemused gaze of the Vyram. "What are they doing?" Radiege wonders. Well, they are working themselves into a heavy sweat. Gai begins to protest, and Ryu soon calls a halt. Meanwhile, Gure puts a biochanger on the juice machine, which snickers and adopts a normal appearance. The team buys drinks. Ryu drinks first. He hiccups and suddenly begins talking about how he does not like to work. He stops, confused by what he's just said. Lyta goes next, becoming belligerent. When he stops in surprise Gai comments that he's impressed. But Gai is affected too. He begins to urge the others to use teamwork. He falls back against a locker as Lyta stalks out of the gym. "What's happening?! Everyone's acting weird!" Kaori drinks and suddenly becomes horribly vain. She stands in appalled confusion. Ako is next, turning sensitive and emotional. Chokan asks where Lyta is. Gai begins a smart remark but then hiccups and starts talking about how they all have to work together, teamwork is the key. As each Jettoman's personality flip flops, Chokan knows something is seriously wrong. Ako and Kaori are sitting together putting jewelry on every body part that isn't too revealing. Lyta tries to pick up some girls but his attitude gets him slapped. "Gai makes this look so easy!" he exclaims. Just then the juice machine monster attacks. It chases Lyta up a tree. The others arrive, practically carrying Ryu with them. Gai is the default leader, but every time the others hiccup they become useless. Lyta goes back up the tree, refusing to fight since Gai told him to. As Ryu's costume vanishes and he sits down in the middle of the fight, Gai frantically yells at him "You're the leader." "Oh, not right now. You do it, sweet Gai." Chokan takes readings and discovers the chemical in their bloodstreams which is rendering their mental condition flip-flopped. She realizes that Gai is the only one who can be affective in either condition. Gure sends the monster out again. With air raid sirens going off, Chokan searches desperately for Ryu, who she finds asleep in a helicopter. Ako is weeping over the brief life of a flower. Kaori couldn't care less. If she fights she might break a nail. Chokan throws Ryu out of the helicopter and threatens to shoot him if he doesn't get up. In the end she gets him back into the helicopter and as she takes off, the rest of them rush forward calling. Their connection strong enough to temporarily override the affects of the chemical. The monster arrives, and Gai has to fight it alone. Chokan gives Ryu a pistol and he fires on the machine. "You've got to change and go help him!" but Ryu refuses. Ako meanwhile is moaning about how poor Gai is fighting all by himself. Chokan finally shoves Ryu out of the helicopter. Terrified, he transfers into costume and riding the adrenaline rush is able to attack and seriously damage the Juice monster. With one last hiccup they are all freed from its influence. Furious with herself, Kaori strips the rings off her fingers and out of her ears. Ako frantically gathers them up, just being her normal self. They seriously damage the Juice machine and it goes big. They call in their planes, form Jet Icarus and manage to destroy the monster. The image the Vyram are watching declares "Game Over" The other Vyram leave Gure alone. The group gathers together. Lyta is mortified about how he had behaved. Gai thinks its funny, resting a friendly hand on Ryu's shoulder. Kaori apologizes profusely. Ryu wonders what Chokan would have been like if she had been affected. She says, " Oh, I don't think you want to know. I would be terrifying." The team does a game of rock, paper, scissors to decide who gets to fly the helicopter, then they all rush for the pilot seat.

It is early morning, the moon is high. There is a place in the mountains where arcane doings are evident and human skulls litter the ground. Kaori and Lyta are riding a bus up into the mountains to go hiking. Kaori daydreams about doing this with Ryu, feeding him treats she's made herself and him praising her talents. The bus enters a tunnel, honking to alert anyone who might be going the opposite way. The bus goes dark, and a man screams for help. As they leave the tunnel, a woman begins screaming, pointing at the pile of clothes with foam all over it. One of the other passengers is a detective. He is here to investigate recent disappearances. Lyta looks at the clothes and says "this looks like the work of the Vyram." Frightened, two of the men start to fight, but the others make them stop. The detective says no one can leave the bus. He does not think it is the Vyram, but some sort of bizarre hoax. Toran watches from the Vyram space ship and snickers, identifying White Swan and Yellow Owl amongst his victims. The detective eyes the bus driver, who wears a hospital mask on his face. "I see you have a cold. How long have you been driving this line?" "About six years." Another man tries to take the woman passenger hostage, but they get him away from her and then the bus enters another tunnel. Coming out, they find the man who had grabbed the woman has turned to foam. The woman thinks it must be the other male passenger who did it. Lyta starts to signal the other Jetmen, but Kaori tells him they should not until they know for sure it is the Vyram. Toran thinks this is just too good. The woman passenger is chug-a-lugging a flask of wine. She hears Kaori and Lyta talking quietly about their work as Jetmen. Her purse falls and the medication she is supposed to be taking rolls down the floor of the bus. She is a woman who has given up on life. The driver pulls the bus over and runs out, trying to jump off the bridge. The detective catches him, ripping the mask off and identifying him as a criminal who disappeared into the mountains six years before. The other male passenger accuses him of being a Vyram, which he denies hysterically. They force him back to the wheel and handcuff him to it. Lyta, Kaori, the detective and the other remaining male passenger join hands and cling together as the bus approaches the next tunnel. The woman laughs, calling death to come for her but when they enter the tunnel she clasps her hands and prays. They come through the tunnel, everyone's still there. But the driver is foam! The bus is out of control! They dive to the floor as the bus heads on a collision course with a car, but the car swerves and the bus winds up stopped in a pile of gravel. Suddenly the bus fills with organs that appear to be things like hearts and lungs. They realize it was the monster all along. The driver of the car runs to help but is caught by the tentacles and consumed. Lyta is trapped in the bus. Kaori gets the others out and comes back to get Lyta. The bus transforms, extending arms and legs and opening huge yellow eyes. Kaori realizes there is no way to handle this on their own and signals the other Jetmen. Flailing around the bus knocks boulders toward the helpless civilians. Kaori protects the drunk woman with her own body. They get the others away but Kaori is lifted in the monster's hand. The other woman cries out, wanting to somehow help. Kaori gets away to join the others in their planes. They form Jet Icarus. Kaori mainly directs their portion of the battle, though Ryu calls in the Flaming Birdnic Saber and they destroy the bus. Another bus arrives to pick up passengers. The woman, now sober, has found her will to live again and thanks Kaori for it. The team stands together after the bus leaves. Lyta apologizes to Kaori for the fact that their trip was all spoiled. She reassures him it is all right. Ako and Ryu beg to join their hiking excursion. And while Gai does not ask to join, he does join them as Ako gets a piggy-back ride from Ryu and they start to hike up the road.

Ryu is 26 years old today. Kaori prepared a delicious birthday meal all by herself. The others all compliment her. She is especially flushed when Ryu does. Gai finds her response irritating. Meanwhile, photographers are doing a shoot with a fashion-model in her bathing suit. Maria observes this and places a bio-changer on the camera. It fires a beam at the girl. The photographer turns and throws her a towel. All stare in shock as the towel falls through her fading form. She appears in a photograph in Maria's album. Kaori is determined to make something special for Ryu. So she is knitting him a red sweater. Her butler comes in and praises her, but seeing her poke herself and draw blood tries to suggest that she have someone else do it. She wouldn't dream of it. Gai is playing pool at the bar when Ryu arrives and orders hot milk. Gai decides now is as good a time as any to ask Ryu how he feels about Kaori. Ryu responds that she is a soldier just like he is. Gai snarls that soldiers are human too, and need love. "I bet you've never been in love!" he snaps. He suddenly grabs Ryu's arm, spins him and pins him against the pool table. After a few snarled remarks about Ryu's heartlessness he releases him and stalks off. All Ryu can do is shudder with the memory of Rie slipping out of his hands, his failure to save her. "Oh Gai, you don't understand." He remembers better times, when he and Rie played lovers' games together. Of their apartment and her grand piano. She could play classical and he would stand beside her, amazed and proud of her beautiful playing. "Oh Rie, why did you die? I'd give anything to hear you play again." Maria gloats over the panic and confusion caused whenever her monster photographs people and they vanish. She's feeling her oats, sure that this monster will destroy the Jetmen. Radiege makes a snide comment about how she's just a woman, is she sure she can do this? They are distracted from their petty carping by a peculiar sound. Gure is trying his hand at this new things he's brought home. A piano. He can make sounds with it, but is still trying to figure out how to make more complex music. Toran remarks sarcastically on Gure's playing, so the robot stalks away. But Maria is drawn inexplicably toward the instrument. She sits down, lays her hands on the keys. From the first waterfall of notes the others are transfixed. Especially Gure. In the midst of the song Maria stops playing, to gaze in bewilderment at her hands wondering where the music came from. Kaori holds out a box to Ryu. "For me?" "Yes, it's a birthday present." Ryu draws out the red sweater, delighted by its softness until he hears Ako ask Kaori, "Did you make it yourself?" He glances over and sees the bandages on almost every finger. He realizes that the sweater represents a depth of feeling he cannot reciprocate. He will not play games with her heart and with a pang of guilt, tells her he cannot accept the sweater. Stunned, she takes it stuttering "I was just being friendly." Then she breaks, throwing the sweater aside she runs from the room in tears. Gai is furious with Ryu, but wastes no time in going after her, leaving Ryu to an angry Lyta who grabs him by the lapels and shakes him, "How could you be so cruel to her?!" Gai catches up with Kaori, demanding that she look at him. When she won't, he spins her around and kisses her. Kaori slaps him with all her strength. He backs up and demands, "Why? Why don't you care about MY feelings?" He reaches for the sobbing woman again but at that moment the Vyram attack. Gure, alone on the ship, is able to indulge himself with the piano. Slowly at first, then with increasing confidence he plays the classical piece Maria played earlier. Kaori and Gai are fighting the faceless minions. Gai takes a few shots meant for Kaori and calls for help. They are getting heavily blasted. Maria directs the camera monster to fire, just then the other Jetmen arrive. Ryu tells Gai and Kaori to run, but Maria catches Kaori, putting her directly in the path of the camera monster which shoots her. Kaori falls into Gai's arms and fades away. Maria gloats, showing them Kaori's photo in her album.

Gai blames himself for Kaori's loss. The team sits together at base, Ryu tells Gai it's not his fault. On the Vyram spaceship, Maria and Radiege are at odds, as she is very smug about the capture of White Swan, and Radiege has his personal vendetta about the Jetmen. Gure watches their posturing alertly. Maria sends the camera monster out to cause more havoc. Gai catches up with them and shouts, "Give her back to me!" "Beg for it, boy." Gai goes to his knees and Maria kicks him. The other Jetmen arrive only to hear Maria tell Gai if he wants Kaori back, he'll have to fight his teammates. To their horror, he does attempt to attack them. But he cannot really fight, hysterical as he is he knows, as Ryu points out, "they won't give her back to you!" They return to the Sky Camp, where they analyze the readings they've taken of the Camera monster. There is a weakness, if only they have a gun powerful enough to shoot it. Their guns are too small. The robot is too big. Maria attacks the city again to draw out the Jetmen. When they arrive she sets the Camera monster at them. They fire their guns together and the monster's beam is losing ground against their combined attack. Gure comes between their shot and Maria, preventing her from being injured in the melee. However, the Jetmen are knocked out of their costumes in the blast, and the Camera gets Lyta and Ako! Chokan shouts into her communicator, "Ryu! Gai! RUN!!!!!" They flee as fast as they can. Maria asks Gure why he helped her out. He explains that he really enjoyed her piano playing. On the ship, the other Vyram consider this to be a curious development. Gai and Ryu are working on Ryu's Jet-Speeder, the small dragster Ryu drives to battle. They are turning it into a cannon, but the initial plan was for it to be held by all five of them, and they must adapt it to the situation as it currently is. Maria accesses their screens and shows them Kaori's photograph. She threatens to burn it, animating the photo so that they can hear Kaori crying for help as the flames sprout up around her. Gai cannot bear it, and he races out to answer the Vryam challenge. Chokan orders Ryu to stay put and work on the cannon. Gai meets with the Vyram minions at a dump-site. Maria keeps him semi-helpless by threatening to destroy Kaori's photo if he changes into costume. He fights them valiantly, but eventually is on the verge of collapse when Maria tells the Camera to take him at last. Ryu arrives in the dragster just in time to see Gai vanish. Ryu ignores Maria's threat and aims the cannon at the Camera. When he fires, the backlash throws him against the hill behind the cannon. Gure again protects Maria from the shot, but this time the impact is powerful enough to knock both of them for a loop, leaving her unconscious and Gure with an arm to put back on. The photos vanish, and the some dozen + people appear. The Jetmen hustle them away and turn to fight, Gure is able to inflict considerable damage even one-handed. Ako manages to hit Maria a few times. Lyta and Gai do some double-teamwork to inflict serious damage on the Camera monster. When they all fire the weapon together, the monster is badly damaged so that it has to go big. They call in their planes to defeat it, forming a fiery phoenix. Gai tosses stones into the lake. Everyone is thanking Ryu. When Kaori does he insists that actually Gai did much of the work. He moves over to where Gai stands, offering him a handkerchief to wipe the blood and dirt from his face. But Kaori chooses that time to come out and say that she really LIKES Ryu. (As if we hadn't noticed) Furious, Gai jumps on his motorcycle. He throws his helmet on the ground and rides off recklessly, but he can't outdistance the pain. He crashes his cycle, and lying on the ground, crushes a tiny daisy crying, "Why don't you think of me?!" Gure gathers his arm up and restores it to his body. Then he gathers up the unconscious Maria and carries her back to the Vyram spaceship.

Singing class at high school. The girls sing like angels, their voices sweet and pure. Especially Ako's best friend. Their teacher informs them that most of the class will be competing in a concert with choirs from other schools. But Ako might not be able to go, as she has been neglecting her practice. After school she is with her friends and her absolute best friend Kyoko offers to practice with her. Just then, her communicator beeps. Ako tries to blow it off and pretend it's nothing, setting a time to practice with Kyoko. "Tomorrow! I promise!" Kyoko takes it in stride, finding her buddy's behavior odd but not offended. The Voice-monster sneaks quietly around, until it hears the excited sounds of women's voices. It absorbs the bell-like tones, leaving behind a distorted version of the truth. Confusion reigns among young women whose voices have suddenly become harsh and strange. Ako is practicing alone in the music room, her voice a touch too tremulous, for she hasn't quite memorized the notes and words. As she sings, another voice, sure and strong, supports hers. She falls silent to admire Kyoko's singing. They are just about to begin practicing when the Jetman beeper goes off. Kyoko wonders, but Ako cannot explain, becoming more distressed as she is unable to share this huge part of her life with her friend. "But we always said we would tell each other everything!" protests Kyoko. Ako arrives late to help the others, seeing the Voice monster turn the energy it has stolen upon buildings, generating mass destruction. But now it needs more power, so it races around terrifying women. But when a young man falls at its feet, it chases him off. Ako worries about Kyoko and eventually finds her practicing outside. She warns her to keep silent and hide. However the Vyram attack, and Ako can't change into her costume in front of her friend, so when she is injured, Kyoko runs to help, calling her name. The monster takes her voice. The monster chased off, Kyoko retreats to her rooms, sobbing because her life has been ruined. Ako outside the door vows to find the thing that did this and make it better. When she runs out and shouts for the Vyram to give Kyoko her voice back, they take Ako's voice, too. She changes into costume to fight, only to find that Kyoko had followed her and witnessed it. The Jetmen chase the monster off again. Chokan takes Kyoko in hand. Lyta remembers the man whom the machine had rejected as a donor. A plan is formulated. The machine needs more power, so it searches for women's voices to power it. It sees an old lady in a kimono by a river, tiptoes up behind her and gets her to turn around. Sure enough, she screams. But the monster's microphone shorts out. This is no woman! It's Lyta! Everyone's voices return to normal. Kyoko arrives with Chokan to cheer Ako on. Heartened, the young girl leads the fight against the Vyram. At the concert, as they sing, Ako's beeper goes off. Without missing a beat, Kyoko shifts position. This allows Ako to slip off unnoticed. Riding away on her motorcycle, Ako cheers herself and her friend.

This is Toran's work. Both Radiege and Gure can't see the use of it, but they are all amused when the Jetmen come to the park and find themselves under attack by deadly airplanes off the cover of model planes' boxes. And two flame-spouting Godzilla heads. Now they meet the origami monster, who catches them in long strands of magically enhanced paper. It is about to blast them when a sound of eerie beauty cuts the air. A piping. The sound paralyzes the monster. Toran pops in to shatter the pipe. The monster vanishes back to the Vyram space ship, where Toran scolds it. Ryu finds the girl wandering in traffic. She seems unaware of her surroundings, walking aimlessly and yet with some strange hint of purpose. He follows her into the amusement park. She gets on the merry-go-round and as she rides round and round begins to look distressed. Suddenly Ryu recognizes her. She is the girl from the pictures Chokan showed them. A museum painting brought to life. He takes her to the hospital where the painter is comatose in intensive care. They learn from his diary that on April 12th, his daughter Shizuko's birthday, he gave her an Okarina, the beautiful ceramic pipe she was playing that drove the monster away. They swerved to avoid hitting a dog on the road, and the girl died in the ensuing accedent. She weeps on her unconscious father's chest. His fondest wish was to hear her play the Okarina again. To their distress, she vanishes. Really she went home and found the real Okarina at her father's. As she leaves she is attacked by the Vyram who pursue her into the park. Ryu arrives, trying to protect her. The others arrive shortly and tell Gai tells Ryu to get Shizuko out of there, they will keep the Vyram busy. Ryu takes her back to the hospital. She stands at her father's bedside and plays the flute, and the sound calls him back from death, to live again. Knowing her father will be all right now, Ryu leaves them there and goes to help the others. However, just when they are winning, Toran points out that they don't dare kill the monster, because Shizuko will die, too. The monster is the only thing which sustains her. But Shizuko herself arrives, bravely playing the flute. The monster desperately shoots her and she falls into Ryu's arms, vanishing before his eyes. Furious, Ryu attacks the monster. They call in the Jet-Striker and the damage is severe enough to force the monster to go big. So they call in the JetMachines. Eventually they kill it. Ryu goes to the museum to admire the portraits of Shizuko. He keeps the Okarina as a momento. "You're father's all right now, Shizuko. You did it," he thinks. And he leaves wistfully.

The girls are out shopping for bathing suits. The boys have come with and are practically collapsing with boredom. Kaori sees one suit she likes and shows it to Ako, who says it's sexy, so the other girl immediately puts it back. Gai, fed up, suddenly grabs Kaori and drags her into the nearest elevator, with the others in hot pursuit. Inside the elevator, Gai says to Kaori, "Did you know that a man is like a wolf?" which sets her into nervous giggles. She leans into the wall as far from him as she can get. The conversation descends into cheap insults about Ryu. She says he is a strong man, and Gai says no he's crazy. She tells Gai that he is too bad, too wild for her. In the meantime, Lyta is panicky on the other elevator. Ako is going on about how romantic it was, the way Gai dragged Kaori off. Lyta tries to explain how he feels about Kaori, something inbetween romantic love and brotherly love. Ryu is sympathetic, while Ako looks somewhat confused. An asteroid is falling through fields of color towards Earth. Radiege, innocently standing against a pillar while Grey seems to be playing chess with himself, is suddenly wracked with convulsions as bio-lighting plays over his body. He knows what's coming. The asteroid hits Earth outside of Tokyo, causing a blackout and stranding our heroes in their elevators. Eventually the blackout is over. Both elevators arrive at the floor they were going to, Lyta rushes out, catches Kaori's shoulders and says, "Are you okay? He didn't hurt you?!" Gai is furious at the suggestion and a fight might have ensued but for Ryu's intervention, and Chokan's call to go to where the asteroid crashed. Radiege arrives at the crash site and hears a familiar voice speaking from inside the asteroid. He raises his sword to smash the thing, when the Jetman arrive. "We might've known YOU were behind this!" Ryu accuses him. "Get out of here, this is none of your concern!" he snarls back at them. But then the asteroid splits, and a tall woman in white stands there. She looks at Radiege and smiles. Then she sees the Jetman and blasts them. On the Vyram ship, she takes the throne reserved for the winner of their challenge with the Jetman. Mariah protests as the three males kneel in front of the woman and Radiege snaps that Mariah is too young to know, but this woman is their queen. The queen tells her own tale, of the destruction of the Vyram home world to gigantic crystals and her overthrow and imprisonment within the asteroid. But she has found a new power source. She is going to birth an offspring. Radiege eyes the "fruit", wanting the power for himself, somehow. But the queen needs something else. She needs to feed her baby on pain and suffering. So she peers at the human world through any reflective surface and begins choosing random targets. A blast from the jewel on her head, and her victims begin to writhe in agony, screaming as their very bones pulse with agony. The Jetman find the queen wandering about blasting people, and they challenge her. She is having a fine time trouncing them until she knocks them out of their costume. Seeing Kaori, she aims a blast and fires. Gai dives in front and takes the blast himself. As he screams and convulses in sheer agony, Radiege arrives, blasts the Jetman and takes the queen back to the Vyram ship. She sits back in the throne and he kneels and kisses her hand in a very courtly gesture. She smiles and tells him it's cute. Unfortunately, Radiege has reached the end of his rope with this. In a fury he attacks her. She turns the attack with ease, deeply outraged and demands to know the meaning of this. He says, "Your time is OVER! Die!" and things like that. The others hide behind a pillar to watch the battle. The queen transforms into her "real" I guess, form. A really ugly fanged creature. Actually, it's obvious she and Radiege are of the same kind. Her power sharp and high, she simply snatches up Radiege in an energy field. Spinning him, she folds his mind and folds it until he is crushed in blackness, empty of memory and thought. She says, "You hate humans so much. Now you shall be helpless among them." She drops him onto black stones. When the mist clears, Radiege's armor is gone and a very handsome human man lies unconscious upon a rocky beach. The Jetman drag Gai to the infirmary. On the way, a crystal erupts out of his wrist. This is a continuing process, and once they GET him to the infirmary, they can't keep him there as he realizes, this is just going to continue and there is NOTHING his friends can do to help him. He runs, Kaori on his heels for she knows this would not have happened to him if he hadn't tried to save her.

The first thing he feels is fear, waking in a place he does not recognize. Panic-stricken, he turns to a soft, sweet-faced girl sitting watching over him and asks her where he is. When she answers, his fear grows for he has realized a continuing emptiness in his thoughts. "Who am I?!" he begs her. Later, he has had time to calm down and he walks out to join her where she sits at a veranda table. Her name is Saki. "Have you remembered anything?" she asks him. He says no, but wonders if going near where she found him might help. He notices the garlands of paper cranes strung together over the chairs and asks her what they are for. She tells him that legend has it if you make 1,000 cranes, you will be cured of your ills. Her classmates made these for her. "Are you ill?" he asks. Saki takes him to the beach where she found him, and plays in the surf while he watches her. Her enjoyment warms him, though he still has no memory he feels better just being with her. She picks up a delicate white seashell and tells him that another legend says with such a perfect shell you can make a wish. She says she wishes he gets his memory back, and throws the shell into the sea. Then she collapses. Back at the seaside hospital, they have tucked her into bed. Her doctor tells them that Saki needs to rest. The young man asks what is wrong with her (I never did quite figure that out), and it turns out that she is terminally ill, and doesn't have long to live. He returns to her bedside. He remembers how she wished for his memory at the beach, and he asks her why she did not wish for her own health and life. She does not answer him, as she really cannot explain. She has grown used to the idea of her death and it no longer frightens her. And perhaps she doesn't really believe in the power of wishing anymore, as hers have done her no good. She closes her eyes and drifts off. "Don't die! I need you! Saki!" So the young man closes his eyes too, and prays with all his might. Something is engaged within him, and power shimmers from their clasped hands to bathe her body in blue light. Kaori finds Gai and they join the other Jetman to fight the queen. Gai makes it through her blasts only to have her knock him away. About to re-join the fray, he sees another man, huge crystals sticking out from his stomach, suddenly turn into a gigantic crystal. In horror, Gai flees. The others search for him, but it is Kaori who eventually finds him, huddled under a tree, staring up at the sky, fighting pain that sometimes makes his limbs shudder and jerk. She tries to get him to come back with her, but he laughs and says there's nothing anyone can do. He is dying. He loses his battle against the fear and pain, and for a moment huddles over in her arms. "I don't want to die!" Then a new wave of agony overwhelms him. He realizes he is about to change, and he tells Kaori he loves her. He runs, but doesn't get far, screaming as the transformation is completed and he becomes a giant crystal before Kaori's eyes. The Jetman catch up with the queen again, this time desperate to defeat her for Gai's sake. Their battle might have been brief.... Saki has gone through complete recovery. The doctor marvels as he and her mother watch the girl and the mysterious young man playing badminton. Saki trips and falls, laughing. The man comes to her, echoing her amusement in his smile. She tells him he has a great and wonderful power, to heal someone like her. He could do a lot with it. She offers to be with him. Touched beyond words, he wraps her in his arms. He whispers, "Maybe it's better if I don't remember." Just then, pain stabs through him, brief but overwhelming. Is it the pain of the queen using her power, or the pain of the people she is attacking, having finally come close enough to reach him? Who knows...? The pain draws him to his feet in blind rage and agony, he staggers away to grab the motorcycle and trace it to its source, not knowing why he is doing what he is doing. He arrives, leaves the cycle and tears around a building to see the queen. He dives back round the corner in an agony of confusion and Saki catches up with him. She shakes him, and he shoves her away. He sees Red Hawk fighting the queen, and that finally does it. His mind is filled with images. Fighting Red Hawk, fighting the queen, rage and hatred blinding him to everything. His memories flood back and he pulls away from the wall he was cringing against. "I am Radiege! A Vyram!" he snarls, eyes wild. The Jetman are getting trounced when a helmeted guy on a motorcycle rounds the corner and knocks the queen. The man jumps off the cycle, throws his helmet down (his back to the Jetman), and transforms into Radiege! On the Vyram ship, Mariah, Grey and Toran see this and shout effectively, "Now the ***** is gonna get it!" They come to join the fight. Seeing the queen and Radiege going at it, the Jetman stop in surprise. Lyta says, "Well WHO do we fight?" Radiege and the queen blast each other, but she is worn with fighting the Jetman, and he's had rather a long vacation, of sorts. Realizing he cannot defeat her, Radiege sees the Jetman and tells them to fire at the crystal on the queen's head. That is her weak spot. Ever flexible, the Jetman obey. When she knocks aside their combined blasts, Kaori pulls out her sword and saying, "For Gai!" leaps at the queen. Her strike cleaves the stone in two, and the crystal Gai had turned into vanishes, leaving him standing in the middle of the infirmary. He races to his plane and comes to join the fight. With everyone against her, the queen is being badly bashed. The Jetman bring out the Jet-bazooka and she disappears in the blast. They return happily to base, believing they've killed her. But actually she teleported away. Powered down, bleeding, she goes into labor. Rather anticlimatically, the fruit breaks off the stem, and will soon hatch. She is smugly congratulating it on its birth when Radiege arrives, having known she wasn't dead all along. He throws his sword and it lodges in her throat, destroying her in a flare of light. He gathers up the egg when someone calls him. SAKI! She stands and begs him to come back to her, to be human. He was the most wonderful, good man she has ever known. She loves him. He is badly shaken. Her proximity draws him and he begins to power down, his face shifting from blue to human color. Then he comes back to himself. "Thank you, fool!" he snaps at her. "I am Radiege of the Vyram, and I don't believe in love!" He throws out a sheet of blue fire and it consumes her. Then he sits on the beach and watches as the tiny baby monster breaks open the egg holding it. Looking like a gigantic caterpillar in Radiege's hand. "Grow big and strong quickly!" he tells it with a mad laugh.

Kaori and Ako try out a fortune teller. The woman tells Kaori that she will be hit by a car, a doll will cry, and she will be killed. Indignant at this fortune, Kaori stomps away. But after several close calls with falling posters of cars she decides she is afraid to get in the car when the family butler offers to drive her somewhere. Then she gets hit by a small child in his plastic car. She's getting very frightened. She walks into a room in her mansion and sees a doll with tears on its face. The butler finds that a water pipe in the ceiling has developed a leak. Curiously, a card with a picture of death on it was wedged in the pipe, but vanishes when the butler gets up there so quickly he isn't sure he saw anything. Kaori goes back to the fortune teller, who gives her a vision of being killed by Maria during a battle at the waterfront. Kaori believes, and returns home and hides out in the house. But the butler, Jiya (Jeeves?) calls Gai. Kaori is so upset she just gets on the cycle with him and holds on tight. Unfortunately, he happens to take her straight to that waterfront. As she runs off in terror, he is attacked by the faceless minions. Kaori hears the others calling for her as they are getting beaten pretty badly, but she cannot go. Then the doors of her room opens, and there stands a demon in a black kimono with a boken (wooden sword). It chases the frightened girl around the house and out into the garden, shouting things I don't know what. Then Kaori realizes who the demon is. It is Jiya, who apparently largely raised her as her parents were busy rich people. She remembers that she has courage. She goes to join the other Jetman, who have been trapped inside a deadly illusion by the fortune teller monster, a being who seems to have been created by both Grey and Maria. Together, the Jetman defeat the monster. Radiege watched the battle from the hold of their ship, where he is watching over the growing baby as it feeds on their power source. He was uninterested in the battle, though. He waits for the baby to mature.

A little girl, Michiru, is taking photographs at her sister's wedding. All of a sudden, big sister walks out on her groom and tells everyone that she doesn't love him or for that matter anyone anymore. The shock is profound. When Michiru develops her photos, she sees some sort of fanged thing, like the end of a vacuum cleaner, in the background. She starts haunting wedding chapels, searching for a trace of the thing again. She sees it and chases after it, running out in front of a truck. Gai happens along at that time and stops the truck, but Michiru, overwrought, faints. They eat lunch together and she shows him the pictures. He shrugs and says its not unusual for a bride to get cold feet. He doesn't believe her and leaves. Later, the others call him to see a news report. A little girl is stuck up in a high place and refuses to come down unless Gai Yuuki comes to talk to her. Stuttering in fury, Gai and the others come and get her down. Forced to listen to her, they go to meet her sister. The girls' parents are dead and the sister is even colder than anything the Jetman have ever seen. They begin to believe Michiru. They make a decision to lay a trap for the monster. Gai and Ako will pretend to get married, hoping to attract the creature. Sure enough, it pops up. Lyta and Ryu are about to jump it when Michiru comes screaming into the chapel to stop the wedding. She's developed a serious crush on Gai. The monster sucks the love out of her. But she's only a little girl, and she collapses into a coma in Gai's arms. Furious, Gai turns into costume without even touching his clothes changers. He leads the charge against the monster. Once it is destroyed, all the women are restored to normal. Michiru will live with her sister and brother-in-law. She asks Gai to wait for her to get older. (Isn't that sweet?)

Ako is on her way to school. She sees the garbage men on their rounds and it occurs to her that she is much too old to still be carrying a teddy bear to school. She takes the bells she always had around its neck off and tosses the bear in with all the garbage. Bored, bored, bored. The Vyram are bored. Radiege is absorbed in the grub he brought back after killing the Queen, so the others are at loose ends. Maria has a biochanger she's been carrying around for a while, toying with what kind of monster she will make this time. Toran, equally bored, snatches it from her and throws it in a garbage dump. The biochanger lands and is engulfed in a pile of garbage that includes Ako's bear. It activates and takes a reading. And this is what the reading shows it: A little girl playing with her teddy bear, Putan. She is Putan's momma, teaching him to walk, and cuddling him, pushing him on the swings. Crying and holding him for comfort when obnoxious little boys smash her sand castles. Kissing him goodnight when they go to sleep. So the biochanger becomes a creature made of the garbage but primarily based on the teddy bear. Putan goes looking for his momma. He wanders into the market, where frightened people take to their heels. When a little boy's mother yanks him away, his toy falls to bust into pieces. Putan uses his power to repair the damage and gives it back to the little boy. Next, seeing a beat-up rusted car that a panic-stricken man is trying to start, Putan repairs that too. The man drives off as fast as he can, the fear of the monster overriding his delight at his suddenly new car. The crowd, realizing they aren't being attacked, turns into a mob and begins throwing things at Putan, trying to drive him away. He flees around corners into a small park, where he encounters Ako on her way home from school. Almost simultaneously an angry Maria arrives, attacking Putan and trying to get him to behave like the monster he is. Ako finds herself between them and gets thrown around by Maria. The rest of the Jetmen arrive and Maria vanishes. As the confused group is trying to decide what to do next, Putan discovers the bells amongst Ako's things and jingles them in memory. Ako realizes what she's looking at. "Putan?!?" The bear looks up, "Momma!" Ako has to go home. To her embarrassment Putan is following her. She tries to chase him off a few times, then hides but he finds her. "Why are you following me?!" "Momma, I'm so hungry." Ako takes Putan to the garbage dump and requests permission of the man in charge for him to stay there. The man is ecstatic when he discovers that Putan eats garbage. As Putan is eating, boxes full of brand new clothing are dumped over the wall. The attendant scowls and informs them that it's just some stores getting rid of the last year's unsold clothes and avoiding paying for the garbage pickup. He shows them new watches, brand new computer parts lying around that stores dump. Putan, offended by such waste, goes and chases off the dumpers. Ako returns to base. Her teammates ask where she's been, covering their noses for Ako smells just awful. She explains how she settled the problem of Putan, very happy that she's found him a good home. However, late that night the men Putan had frightened off earlier in the day sneak into the dump. Putan is just falling asleep in the little shack they made him, walls lined with some pictures of Ako as a little girl playing with Putan. The men get a bulldozer and knock over his shack, assuming they've killed the monster. However, Putan escapes and ends up staggering down by the waterfront. Maria arrives and reminds Putan how he was attacked when he was first self-aware. Human are murderous, they hate him just because he is different. She awakens his sense of outrage, and while he is consumed by anger, uses her power to turn him into a gigantic demonic version of himself. Putan begins blasting around. His blasts leave skeletons in their wake. Ako runs to beg Putan to stop, but he doesn't recognize her and Ryu has to yank her out of the way of his blasts. The Jetmen call their planes and form to fight Putan. However, a tiny girl with a teddy bear is right in the path of falling debris, and Ako leaves the robot to protect her. She saves the girl but ends up pinned under a slab of concrete. Putan hears the little girl's sobs, and seeing her down below he remembers who he is, and who Ako is. He weeps, breaking the spell and returning to his normal appearance. Downsizing, he frees Ako from under the concrete block. But the furious Maria appears and attempts to run Ako through. Putan throws himself between them and instead, her sword stabs through the biochanger on his chest. Putan turns, says "Momma," and then his structural integrity fails. He disintegrates into a glowing, teddy bear shaped light, which then bursts. Angered beyond caring, Ako fights Maria and manages to drive her off. They come to the garbage dump, where Ako has made a small shrine with a cross for Putan. She and the attendant are more grieved that the others, because they knew Putan. As they say prayers, more boxes full of brand new items are dumped over the wall. Ako shouts in aggrieved protest.

Ryu suggests Gai try a more subtle approach to asking Kaori out. She, however, has her own ideas on the subject. She arrives with tickets to a jazz concert and gives one to Ryu, making it very difficult to refuse as she pretty much takes off, straight out of the room. Gai comes in just afterwards. He sees the ticket and expresses envy, because he really likes jazz. Ryu sees a way to kill two birds with one stone and gives the ticket to Gai. Imagine a certain two people's surprise when they run into each other at the concert. Kaori immediately asks where Ryu is, saying she gave a ticket to him. Gai realizes then that Ryu gave him the ticket, but he thinks Ryu is mocking him. In a fury, he races off to find Ryu. Ryu is working out with Lyta and Ako when Gai arrives and attacks him. The two men end up in the lake, fighting, Ryu on the defensive. Lyta rushes in to try to help and gets punched out by a wildly swinging Gai. Kaori arrives in a rush, having realized at last what had happened, and screams for them to stop fighting. At that moment the Vyram attack. Well, Grey, Toran and Maria attack. But their fight is stopped when Radiege uses his powers to drag them back to the ship, where the queen's baby is coming out of its cocoon.

On another world, perhaps another dimension (full of fog and mist and polluted air, a dead world), three people step into a great, birdlike Robot and launch it for Earth. Meanwhile, Radiege lets the Queen's baby, now a giant, mature lobster-like monster, loose on Tokyo. It nearly kills the Jetmen. They are saved by the arrival of Jet Garuda. A blast from JG freezes the monster, and the three aliens join our heroes back at Skycamp. Ryu is all set to welcome them with open arms. Gai is highly suspicious. When Dan, the youngest of the three, flips Ako's skirt up to get a glimpse of her underwear he tries to say it's because he's just curious, but Kanta (the woman of the trio) says he's just being young. The monster breaks loose from imprisonment and JG is damaged trying to stop it. Now both robots are in need of extreme repairs, but the baby is also injured and returns to the Vyram ship, where Radiege hooks it up to the power source so that it can regenerate.

The two groups reason that though the robots cannot defeat the monster separately, perhaps they can be combined into a more powerful weapon and do so. Agreeing, they set about the programming and construction needed to accomplish this. Dan, however, arranges for a beam to fall on him. Not hurt at all, he plays at deep injury and manages to get out of the work. A quick trickery and he gets Ako to sit with him. He abruptly declares that he is starving and gets her to guide him to a good place to eat. She finds him obnoxious but kind of amusing. After they eat, they sit on a hill and talk. He lays back to stare at the clear blue sky and take in the breezes and smells all around. "Our world is not like this." He describes a world devastated by war. It was the Vyram who had attacked them and destroyed their homeworld. He picks a tiny white daisy and makes a ring of it around Ako's finger. "There you go, now we're married," he jokes. In the meantime, Rei and Kanta stand to study the great robots they are repairing, daring to hope for the future. They are lovers. Ryu sees them and, somewhat shy of intruding on a private moment, leaves them be. The monster has regenerated, and Radiege again turns it loose on an unsuspecting Tokyo. Jet Garuda is not finished, so Jet Icarus and the Jetmen face the monster alone. Rei, Kanta and Dan complete the programming and fly out to join the fight, when Radiege manifests in front of the ship and throws his sword. It hits Rei in the stomach and the ship goes out of control. Kanta and Dan are thrown out in the crash. Radiege arrives and drags the mortally wounded Rei out. He blasts Kanta, who crawls, dying, towards Rei. Radiege takes Jet Garuda and attacks the startled Jetmen, who soon know it's him. Dan regains consciousness to see his two companions dead, their hands just inches from each other. With a mad scream, he manifests his bird-shape and flies for Jet Garuda. Boarding the ship, he duels Radiege. Despite his odd appearance, Ako recognizes him. Radiege stabs Dan through the gut, and Dan breaths fire into his enemy's face, driving him off. The robots destroy the monster, but... Dan is dying. Ako holds him in her arms and makes a ring of a nearby daisy. He smiles at her before it's over. However Radiege, returning from this severe defeat, gets to suffer being laughed at by the others.

Maria collects traits from several animals to help create her next monster. The outstanding animals are rabbit and armadillo. She puts it on the lights of a great field. So, when the creature shines its beam on its victims, their shadows become solid, and echo their movements. The Jetmen come to fight it, all except Gai, who was off doing something else. The creature catches our heroes all in its beam. But their shadows don't just echo them. They also begin to drain our heroes, and take on their own colors similar to the Jetmen's. Our heroes are knocked down and about to get sliced and diced, when clouds cover the sun and their shadow selves vanish. (I may have these events a bit out of order). Well, Maria comes back that night and uses her power to create a bubble of artificial daylight over the city, bringing out the evil shadows again. They start randomly attacking helpless people and destroying property. The other Jetmen are delirious, tossing and turning as they dream what their shadows do. Gai searches for Maria, because if he doesn't stop her before midnight, his friends are dead. He is almost caught by the shadows and the armadillo monster, but the other Jetmen arrive to fight a delaying action, still tough though barely on their feet. He sees Maria atop a building, but before he can get to her, Gure steps between them. Finally Gai is able to fire on her, and the night falls again just in time. The armadillo monster attacks Gai, but the others arrive in time to fight it off and together they defeat the monster.

The Jetmen fight what appears to be a mix of a grandfather clock and a mammoth. Lyta severely damages it, and with a surge of power, it sends itself and the Jetmen back to prehistoric Japan. Lyta, fallen separate from the others, wakes in a grass hut to find himself attended by a girl who looks exactly like Kaori, except for the little fact that she's wearing practically nothing. His bracelets are gone, and so for that matter, are his clothes. He is dressed in ragged leathers. When he finally realizes the girl is not Kaori (her name is Rika) and realizes that he somehow is in another time and place, he sets about teaching the tribe. He shows them how to start fires using a piece of glass to focus light, he shows them how to farm. He is beginning to accept that he's going to be in this place for the rest of his life. The idea of marrying Rika is quite appealing. However, the other Jetmen are also there, though they wake far away. Kaori wakes first and shakes the others up going, "Where is Lyta?" They fish and worry, until the clock-monster reappears from where it's been hanging out in a volcano and they go to fight it, seeing a rent appear in the sky behind it. A window back to their time. Quickly, they change into costume. But the clock monster's appearance has attracted Lyta. He sees the others and looks despairingly at his bare wrists. Rika remembers seeing these things on the ground when she found Lyta, and retrieves them. However, she knows that when he puts them on he will disappear forever. So she holds them back with pouting lips and tears in her eyes, just long enough to let him know how she feels (as they speak different languages, by the way. Lyta has been teaching by example). Grieved, he accepts his bracelets from her and returns to his own time, where they destroy the monster. Afterwards, he lies in his strawberry patch, dreaming of Rika and the tribe. He hears her calling him and sits up. No, it is Kaori and the others. They found a book of cave paintings. There is a picture of a man who turns into an owl, and the caption reads, "Who is this mysterious god?" or something like that. The others pick some strawberries, and Lyta accepts their praises for the taste. "After all, I am a god." They tease him about it affectionately.

Ako calls desperately for help, and her fellows find her dead on a path in the park. Stunned, they bring her body back to base. Gai later returns to the park, riding his motorcycle, searching for some trace of whatever it was that took Ako's life. He passes a hearse going the opposite direction. Suddenly he is caught as if in a tractor beam and pulled back, back into the hearse! The remaining three find his dead body and Kaori sobs over him. The hearse rolls out of thin air and a rope loops around Lyta's neck, dragging him inside the thing. It disappears, then a moment later reappears, dumping Lyta's lifeless body from the back. There's a lovely red rope-burn around his neck. Radiege appears, but something is strange. He is like a ghost. His body is see-through. But though Ryu can't touch him, he can touch Ryu! Fighting, Ryu falls halfway into the hearse and finds he is staring into a vision of Hell. Demons of Japanese legend wait for him. Radiege grabs him and starts dragging him in when a wooden staff seems to leap past Ryu's shoulders and knocks the Vyram away. Ayachokan has brought in a Shinto/Buddhist Priest (he seemed like a blend of the two, to me). It seems the other three aren't EXACTLY dead. Radiege has stolen their souls and trapped them in Hell. It's up to Ryu and Kaori to get them out. Ryu, though terrified and trembling from his vision of Hell, volunteers to negotiate the paths of the dead to find his teammates. It is a frightening journey. Several traps lie in wait for him. I'm out of order here, but heck. He finds himself in a dark dungeon. Stumbling upon a crying little girl, he picks her up on his back to carry her out, but she turns into stone and he flees, pursued by demons. Out, he meets an old woman beside a river. She tosses him in and he sees a vision of the others being tortured in Hell, by demons and the shades of several of the monsters the Vyram have sent against them. He stumbles into a field where three lovely maidens are gathering flowers. He almost stays with them, but Kaori (her astral self at the waterfall, which is an anchor-point) calls out a warning. Which is good, because it turns out these aren't really women after all, but Radiege and the demons! Radiege and Ryu fight. To our hero's horror, he cannot change into his suit. Ryu abandons his fear and lets himself fall off a cliff. By strength of will he changes into costume and becomes a firebird. He goes to the others and tells them they can do it, to. They all transform and summon the spirit-forms of Jet Icarus and Jet Garuda to fight the monsters' shades. Two monsters take over Jet Icarus for a time, but in the end our heroes prevail! They return to their bodies and bound happily out of the Buddhist caves where they've been while all this was going on. It is SO good to be alive! Ayachokan bids farewell to the Priest.

Toran creates the Hair-Dryer monster! However, he seems to have some uncertainty about the creature, as it has to beg and beg him to let it have a chance at the Jetmen. When he finally lets it try, it makes a challenge presented in fireworks, "Jetmen, meet me here." Curiously enough the choice of battlefields is a baseball stadium. With air-raid sirens sounding to clear the area, our heroes come to find themselves facing minions dressed in baseball uniforms and wielding bats. After our heroes have changed into costume, one of the minions sneaks up on Ako and flips up the skirt of her outfit (it seems they have a sense of humor). The battle eventually spills out of the stadium. However, the monster is distracted when it hears a little old lady screaming as she pursues her runaway grocery cart. The monster runs over, stops the cart and sends the little old lady on her way. She comments happily about the nice young man who helped her. The faceless minions are in such shock that the Jetmen defeat them with ease. It really tries to be evil! It convinces the minions to come with it to attack the Jetmen again. It traps our heroes and starts to incinerate them with flaming hot air from its nozzle, only to be distracted in the midst of battle by a little puppy who finds it delicious and tickles it by licking. The minions, in utter disgust, stomp off to complain to Toran. The poor monster doesn't know what to do. He wanders off and dreams of defeating the Jetmen, of having the other Vyram bowing and scraping in admiration of its power and intelligence. It stumbles upon two high school girls down by the water and chases them into the lake while the Jetmen are TRYING to convince it that it's not really evil. When it turns its deadly dryer on the girls it only does, to their delight, turn their long, black hair into sweet-smelling cleanness. It finally yields to the Jetmen's blandishments and comes to talk to them, however, Toran and the minions arrive. Toran has promised a super-changer to the minion who kills the hair dryer, and they are after it in force! During the battle that follows, the monster takes a hit meant for Ako. Our heroes spirit it away while Toran thinks it's dead. The hair dryer monster becomes an apprentice at a beauty shop and sends the Jetmen post cards.

The others call Radiege's attention to a young couple approaching the magical portal to Earth. Radiege hisses. These are the only survivors of a people he thought he had destroyed. He attacks them before they reach the portal. The girl, Ru, breaks a stick from a dead tree and turns it into a weapon. Neat power. The boy, Duran, makes it past and falls to ground on Earth unconscious. Ryu, nearby dreaming of sweeter times with Rie, finds him and takes him back to base. Ru makes it through in pitch battle with Radiege, who simply teleports away and then amuses himself by appearing in any surface. Ru, mad with battle-fever, attacks these images and does considerable damage to the buildings around her. The Jetmen arrive to fight her, thinking she's another Vyram creation, which is really funny because she thinks that's what THEY are. Radiege finds the whole situation hilarious. Duran, however, arrives to defuse the situation. Though he is able to get Ru to stop fighting, the lovers argue, for Ru is using their powers in ways her people would abhor. Ru and Duran have a special link, owing to a marriage ceremony (or something like that) performed before the Vyram arrived and destroyed everything in their fragile world, leaving only the two of them. Radiege creates a monster out of an ancient suit of Samurai-battle armor. It becomes a green, snake suite and flings out its glove and boot, which fit themselves onto Ru. She struggles valiantly, but only when Duran takes her hand do they come off, to fix themselves onto him. He is dragged inexorably towards the monster, his arm and leg moving him will-he won't-he, as Ru struggles to hold onto him. But the suit takes him inside and attacks. Ryu can only think how much this is like when he lost Rie, and he leaps between the now-occupied suit and Ru, taking a strike across the back that leaves him comatose. In the infirmary, Kaori weeps over Ryu's unmoving form. Ru, understanding at last why her people hated war, turns her power to healing and saves Ryu, then faints. But as he revives and his friends welcome him back, Ru wakes and teleports away to search for Duran. The Jetmen follow, only to have her beg them to save Duran's life. She knows he's not dead, just trapped inside that suit of armor. Ryu, understanding exactly how she feels, drops his weapon and confronts Duran, who struggles to control his body over the vicious power of the suit. Without an external threat to distract him, he is able to defeat the suit, which is destroyed by the inner battle. Ru and Duran bid farewell to the Jetmen, and return through that hole between dimensions. They intend to re-build their home, and perhaps there are other survivors.

Two innocent men are hiking along when there is an earthquake. That's not unusual, so they just keep on going. However, pretty soon they see red mist pouring out of a cave in the hillside. Curious (the fools!), they enter the cave. They find some artifacts, two bizarre carvings on the wall. Backing up, they knock over a vase, which shatters. Out of it forms a huge, toothy monster that kills them. It then goes into Tokyo, seeking human champions. It faces and kills a boxer, then a samurai. Despairing of finding an appropriate champion, it is hurrying across Tokyo when it stumbles upon Radiege and the Jetmen fighting in a park. It makes a general attack on them. Kaori manages to get in a hit that takes off one of its arms. It regrows the arm immediately and stuns Radiege and the Jetmen. It snatches up Kaori and takes her unconscious self with as it races back to the cave. Immensely curious, Radiege follows. The creature's name is Muu. It is the servant of two ancient gods, Majin Ramon and Majin Googu of the Taiko era (I have no idea). These lovely beings (eeeesh) have slept in this cave for a LOOOONG time, waiting for Muu to free them by bringing them blood sacrifice. Whether Muu's goal to search for a powerful champion as sacrifice was his own or their idea, wasn't really covered. Gai arrives in time to see Kaori placed in the sacrificial humanoid-shaped indent in the wall, and tentacles spring from the stone gods towards her. She screams. He pulls out a knife and slices open his palm. The fresh blood scent brings the tentacles after him. He endures the draining of his blood. Kaori, seeing him thus, remembers all the times he's put his life on the line for her, and realizes that she does indeed love him. She tells him so but he is weakening and can only smile in response. The other Jetmen arrive and blast him loose, taking both of them from the cave. Mu is in a panic. He goes out to fight the Jetmen. Meanwhile, Radiege steps into the cave. He offers his own blood to the stone gods and lets them drain him. They wake from their long sleep and take flesh. Muu comes, but he is injured mortally, and so they kill him. The chamber begins to quake and break apart. Ramon and Googu leave, ignoring Radiege. Furious, he pursues them.

Radiege cannot make the vampire gods obey him. Kaori and Gai take off together and spend the day ignoring their teammates. Meanwhile, the vampires rescue several people from death, but not for a kind reason. They change these people into pineapples and drink them! Ryu is angry with Kaori and Gai for not helping them. Kaori apologizes, but Gai leaves, taking her with. Maria attacks the Jetmen but the vampire gods interfere. They are after a person who should be dead. They attack Maria, disrupting her power and shutting her down. Suddenly instead of Maria, Ryu's beloved Rie lies unconscious. Ryu springs to protect her from the gods' attack. He calls in the robots to fight. Radiege comes and restores Maria to herself. One of the gods is dying and the other intends to drain him. Radiege and Gure spirit away the dying one and seed it with monster makers. They return the body and win control over the other vampire. Ryu has lost his mind. Convinced Rie is with him, he refuses to leave her. Terror-struck, the others track down Kaori and Gai, begging them to help. Gai weeps when he realizes just how bad a state Ryu is in. They run to fight the distorted vampire, leaving Ryu in his delusion. Maria attacks Ryu for fun, but soon realizes he doesn't see her as anything but Rie. Enraged, she attempts to beat him to his senses. Only his friends need for help wakes him up. Still, he knows Rie is alive inside Maria. He hugs her tight, shocking the hell out of her and apologizes for having to leave her again, but it is his duty as leader of the Jetmen. The vampire monster is destroyed.

Convinced Rie is with him, he refuses to leave her. Terror-struck, the others track down Kaori and Gai, begging them to help. Gai weeps when he realizes just how bad a state Ryu is in. They run to fight the distorted vampire, leaving Ryu in his delusion. Maria attacks Ryu for fun, but soon realizes he doesn't see her as anything but Rie. Enraged, she attempts to beat him to his senses. Only his friends need for help wakes him up. Still, he knows Rie is alive inside Maria. He hugs her tight, shocking the hell out of her and apologizes for having to leave her again, but it is his duty as leader of the Jetmen. The vampire monster is destroyed.

The scientists who created the Jetman technology died when the Vyram first attacked. One, Hakase Aizawa, had a daughter (Mika) who has dreams from which she brings scraps of technological blueprints. Ryu is assigned to watch over her and befriends her. It is difficult, for she resents her dreams and the government's need of her. When her father was alive, he was always working. On her birthday he sent some man to bring her a present. It was a music box of sorts. She never saw him that day though she had waited up for him. She broke it and Ryu sets about repairing it. Maria creates the cockroach-monster. Ryu and Gai are drinking together when the signal comes. The Jet-Striker gets thoroughly glued. Ayachokan introduces the team to this really cool gun that's supposed to be able to shoot around corners, except they were never able to complete it because Aizawa died. Mika meets her father in her dreams, it's been his ghost trying to finish what he hadn't lived to do. They make peace with each other. Chokan realizes that the scraps of blueprints have to be copied onto transparent paper and when laid over each other form the complete blueprint! The guns are completed and monster defeated.

Ryu steals a disk detailing Tetra-Boy's technology and weak points. Pursued by his frightened friends, he slips away. That night, he signals the Vyram.. "I want Rie. I'll trade." Intrigued, Gure comes to talk to him. Before Ryu can give Gure the disk, Gai destroys it and attempts to stun Ryu, who escapes. He agrees to meet Gure in the morning. Ryu steals Tetra Boy and gives it to Gure who kills him and takes the robot back to the Vyram space ship. BUT... Ryu is not dead. It was an android lookalike. He was hidden in Tetra-Boy's foot. He sets off a signal which leads his relieved friends to him. The Vyram are able to expel the Jetmen from their ship before any serious damage is done.

A sick girl, Eri, has a psychic bond with a white dove she nursed back to health after it was poisoned by exhaust fumes. Through the bird's eyes she witnesses dumping of toxic waste into a pond, and Radiege's creation of a monster rat. The child uses her bird to summon the Jetmen to her. She befriends Ako. The little girl is waiting for an operation, but she is terrified of it and the doctors are worried she might get a bit crazy if they can't do something to calm her down before they have to operate. The rat-Monster's poison blinds Ako and Radiege enjoys himself pursuing both girls until a flock of pigeons comes to the rescue, distracting him long enough for the girls to escape. Radiege is fit to be tied. Eri helps Ako fly by standing behind her in the cockpit of Jet Swallow and telling her which way to go. Slowly, Ako's sight returns. The monster is destroyed. Having gained courage from fighting real and immediate dangers, Eri goes through with her operation and is fine.

One might call it, "The beginning of the end". Ayachokan takes our heroes on a vacation to a resort in the mountains. They have a lot of fun until Toran attacks them. He plays his flute and magic-contaminated ants bite people, who begin eating anything organic in sight. Live dogs, fish, etc. Kaori is bitten. The Jetmen wake to the sight of a field of cow-bones out their window. They have to battle hapless victims of Toran's magic, including Kaori. Gai nearly kills Toran, but Ryu protests that Toran is just a child. Enraged, Toran releases his human victims from the magic infecting them, and it forms itself into a soldier ant (bad pun) with a bazooka and fights the jetmachines. They defeat it. Later, the other Vyram appear and mock Toran about his being a child. He screams in fury and runs off to a cave where he performs powerful magic, forcing his body to adulthood and a magical high.

The Jetmen are puzzled by a handsome stranger who first trounces Ryu in hand to hand combat, then out-golfs Gai and lastly out-eats Lyta. Radiege attacks the Jetmen, but the stranger intervenes. He raises his arm, drags Gure and Maria from the spaceship then reveals himself to be Toran, now Toranza. He enjoys himself beating both groups. Back at the spaceship he establishes a new pecking order. Ryu and Lyta work to determine how to defeat one of Toranza's tactics, but Toranza kidnaps Ryu and nearly kills him. Ryu is saved just in time by Radiege's monster, meant to kill them both. The Jetmen destroy it. Toranza beats Radiege into submission, a foolish tactic considering the end result.

The Jetmen freeze a monster maker sent by Maria and take it to scientists to study. Toranza punishes Maria for allowing this to happen, and goes off to retrieve it with a monster that is a chameleon and a hammer. Its victims hear it, but don't see it. Ryu's old friend tries to steal the monster maker, but encounters Toranza. The chameleon monster is destroyed. It's hammer falls within reach of the other monster-maker, which recreates it. The Jetmen defeat it again and the two old friends make peace.

Toran is bullying Maria and Radieege. Gure flips and coin and wins the toss. It's his turn (a two-headed coin). Gure creates the cat-monster. When it attacks, most of the Jetmen are turned into chess pieces and Gure picks them up. Gai manages to tear away a chunk of Gure's armor, and the robot needs it back. They deal to meet at a gambling casino and play the roulette wheel. Gai broke the chunk into four pieces so he would have four chances to win his friends back. Maria stands at Gure's side. Gure is able to gauge where the ball will wind up, and it looks bad for Gai. Ayachokan comes in and intimidates the Vyram. The last spin of the roulette wheel, and Gai wins! Jet Robo lifted the casino and tilted it. Cheating, yes, but they did win.

Radiege, Maria and Gure are becoming desperate to free themselves of Toranza. Radiege, with the other two to hold him up when he gets exhausted, reaches out telekinetically to an asteroid they saw and drags it down to Earth. The Jetmen are attracted by this activity and come running, but Radiege manages to create his monster first. It looks like a bat-being, with a clear bubble on its chest in which a duplicate of the original meteor is. In battle it drains the Jetmen's power and things are looking bad until a group of people in black outfits show up and blast the creature, chasing it off. These people are cyborgs of some sort. It would seem they were created by a crazy general who intends to have them replace the Jetmen. When the bat creature gets big, he sends them out in the Jet machines to fight it. Their lack of experience tells against them. The real Jetmen use Jet Garuda to rescue the new team. They destroy Radiege's monster. The crazy general is furious. Toranza has been watching all this time and snickering.

Toranza shows the others how he released the mini-meteor before the monster was destroyed, and sent it up a robot's exhaust pipe. The bat monster is now in the Jetman complex. The new team shows off at the old's expense and throws the old team out onto the streets. The leader of the new team apologizes. They find the bat-monster and try to fight it, but the general locks them in with it when they try to retreat, while Chokan tries to help them. The old team hears their calls for help, as Ako had stolen her bracelet, and rushes in. They are able to briefly beat off the bat monster. The other team recharges the Jetmen, bringing them back up to full strength. The bat-monster is defeated, and things are back to normal.

Toranza amuses himself by creating a little yellow robot. Unfortunately, it isn't quite right. It's circuits keep shorting out and it has the mentality of a child. Radiege finds it hysterical, so Toranza beats him up and has the robot thrown away, allowing the faceless minions to attack and chase the poor little thing. Kaori is gearing up Gai for dinner with her parents. He is frustrated and they go outside the house, only to have Gure attack them. In the midst of the attack, Gure finds the little robot, G32, hiding in the underbrush, terribly suffering. In a moment of soft-heartedness, he assists G2. He replaces the bad power unit with one of his own, better regulated. In the ensuing battle with the Jetmen, Maria is injured and she and Gure retreat together. She is in shock, though at one point she takes a leaf from a bush and whistles with it. Gure takes her to a cave out of the rain. She is freezing, and though Gure tries to hold her, he is metal and so cold to touch, and she flinches away from him. She loses consciousness. Ryu finds them and manages to talk Gure into letting him tend Maria on the grounds that he can give her heat and Gure can't. In her unconscious deleriousness, Maria reaches for Ryu's warmth. Gure is injured in his heart. G2 comes out to try to be with Gure, but the other drives him off. Ryu goes out to gather firewood, and G2 comes in and takes Maria away. In the meantime, Gure battles the Jetmen and suffers great damage. G2 sets Mariah aside and fires and blocks the shot that might have destroyed Gure, and is buried under a rock slide. Maria regains consciousness and she and Gure leave the scene together, but in the distance they hear on the breeze the sound of a leaf whistle. She asks him what it is, and he says it's nothing. G2, buried under rocks, has picked a leaf and plays it like he had seen Maria do for Gure. Then his systems shut down, and he blows up.

The dinner with Kaori's parents goes badly. While Toranza is busy with a robot he is creating, Radiege makes a tiny monster to attack the Jetmen. He has it delivered to Chokan in a bouquet of roses. It enters her bloodstream when she breathes in the scent of the roses. She begins to sabotage the team, first slapping Gai and Kaori for behaving irrationally about the dinner with Kaori's parents. Ryu has to hold Gai back from violent retaliation. Then gets them to let her tie them up and "test a new weapon." While they're chained up, Radiege and the minions attack. They get away, but next Chokan demands their bracelets. Reluctantly they give the things up, but Ryu catches Chokan putting them in a microwave. With wild madness she attacks him. He manages to knock her out. An examination of her unconscious body reveals the little thing in her bloodstream. They shrink Jet Icarus, down and go into her bloodstream to fight it, eventually coming out her tear duct. Which is good or they will blow up in her body, which would be really bad. (boom Chokan). Chokan herself flies into the fray in Jet Garuda, and defeats the monster.

Gai broke up with Kaori, and she commiserates with Ako who affectionately encounrages her to make up with him. He is hanging out with a couple of girls for swimming, but his mind is on Kaori. Suddenly, a girl is snatched from her deck chair without anyone noticing. All over the city, people are being snatched away by the Vyram's minions. Toranza is hooking them up into his robot's circuitry and using their life forces as a power source. In the ensuing battle the Vyram manage to invade the Jet robots and capture Lyta, Kaori and Ako.

Radiege sabotages Toranza's robot. Toranza beats him and then patches him into the robot's power. Draining Radiege severely improves the robot's ability to fight, but it sucks him in, leaving only his armor held up by the minions and tentacles. In a very short time he comes back out again, ripping himself free of the tentacles. Gasping, he lifts his head and meets a panic stricken Lyta's eyes. With a hiss of total fury, he gets to his feet and cuts Lyta loose, telling him to fight. Because only Radiege can kill the Jetmen. Lyta frees Ako and Kaori and the other still living prisoners. Ryu manages to board the robot, while an injured Gai runs the Jetrobot's all by himself. Rotanza fights Ryu and is beating him, when the others join him. Radiege staggers off the robot, laughing insanely. Then the robot is destroyed. The Vyram are transported back to their ship. Toranza feels a trickle down his forehead and touches it to find he is bleeding. He laughs in shock.

Radiege powers down to his human form. He wanders the city, sufferings spasms of power which disrupt electrical systems all around him. Toranza creates a monster out of Lyta's childhood terror, the Tomato King. Everywhere Lyta turns he sees people with tomatoes for heads. Every power he imagined the Tomato King to have, it manifests. Ako and Lyta go to see his grandmother, who shows them drawings Lyta made when he was a child. It was so cute how afraid he was. He conquered his fear of the King by eating tomatoes. Each tomato he ate was another piece of the tomato king's power. The king's power has grown and it seems he really is turning people's heads into tomatoes. The Jetmen eventually turn the tables, Ako cheering Lyta on as he eats tomatoes. The resonant effect being that the tomato king is eaten. The other Jetmen come and happily eat tomatoes with him.

Toranza is tired of fooling around. He will finish the Jetmen and Radiege with his great gun. Maria is worrying about Radiege. Where is he, she wonders, playing the piano. Toranza begins his attack, pursuing Ryu at Rie's grave. He chains Ryu to a cross and waits for the other Jetmen to arrive., In the battle, he fires his gun on Lyta, turning him into a framed picture. His blast sends the other Jetmen flying. Ryu falls down a cliff. Chokan urges the others to flee. They run. Toranza follows. Radiege arrives at the bottom of the cliff. He picks up Ryu, gently dressing his wounds. Ryu, when he regains consciousness, has no idea who this man helping him could possibly be, and he's frightened and sure he needs help. Radiege practically carries him up the cliffside, telling him that he also hates Toranza and wants to kill him. Ryu loses his footing, and Radiege hangs on, ignoring the tearing of his skin on his hands. Ryu tells him to let go, but Radiege refuses to give him up. Toranza has fun pursuing Jetmen around Tokyo, first catching Ako on a rooftop, then Kaori in a mall, and lastly Gai on motorbikes at an abandoned lot. That is where Radiege and Ryu catch up with him, just a moment too late. Toranza mocks Ryu, and asks him who his friend is, which only frightens Ryu more. But Radiege urges him on into battle. Ryu attacks Toranza, but soon is knocked over and Radiege surrenders to an impulse to come to his aid. But Toranza threatens to kill Ryu and Radiege stops, then begins laughing. And then he changes and attacks Toranza and Ryu. Ryu isn't an idiot, he knows Radiege. He fights them both. Toranza's power is disrupted, releasing the other Jetmen. They blast him. Radiege finds the bloody, burned and near-dead Vyram and torments him, forcing him to call Radiege his lord. We last see Toranza in an insane asylum, covered in bandages. The doctors say no one has any idea who he is, he was found in a quarry, body seriously burned. They have no idea who he is. But he is prone to violent fits.

If Radiege was ever sane, he's completely lost it. He offers to share his power with Maria, when she comes to ask him how he got so powerful. Out of his blood, he creates a starfish like creature and it affixes itself to Maria's neck. She stalks the streets and parks, drinking blood. Killing people. She eventually finds Gai at an amusement park with two girls. She is disguised as a human and he doesn't reccognize her at first. Then she almost gets him, but he realizes the danger when her fangs come out. He escapes, calling in the other Jetmen. There is also a huge gray monster that just appears and doesn't really do anything. Ryu sends the others off to check it out and remains to confront Maria. He shoots her and she collapses, appearing to become Rie. But when Ryu comes to cuddle her, she takes him and infects him with the starfish thing.

On the Vyram space-ship, Radiege is still suffering power spasms. Gure worries about Maria, he tries to talk to her, telling her how worried he is about what this is doing to her. She, however, is feeling more powerful every moment. She knows she is getting stronger. She doesn't care that it's transforming her. Ryu returns to the Jetmen and they are repairing the robots when he attacks Kaori. The Jetmen are able to cage him, and he writhes madly, snarling, burning with a need for blood. An image of Maria in the park appears on their screens. Gai orders Kaori to stay there with Ryu, and takes Lyta and Ako out to seek Maria. They leave the base only to find Gure confronting them. He tells them what's happened, that this situation is destroying the humanity in Maria, whom he loves. He asks them to help her. Ryu descends into screaming madness. Kaori can't take watching him suffer, and goes into the cage, begging him to fight it. Ryu nearly dies to refuse the bloodlust. It is a very near thing, but the starfish thing detaches from his neck and goes after Kaori. Chokan shoots it. They go to the other Jetmen, who are fighting a losing battle with Maria. Ryu lets her catch him and draws her to him, holding her tight. He says that, though he looks horrible, he still loves her, he will always love her. And he kisses her. In shock, she tears free of him, her mind first then her powers disrupted as she remembers the life of Rie. The starfish thing detaches and goes after Ryu, but he destroys it. Maria transforms into Rie, who is awake and comes to Ryu, but Radiege comes. He blasts Ryu and demands Rie return to him. She does not become Maria in appearance, but she goes to Radiege. But Maria is no longer Maria, and Rie is no longer only Rie. The two souls have been fused, or something. Radiege goes after Ryu to kill him. But Maria grabs Ryu's sword and shoves it into Radiege's back. With a snarl, he spins and slices her. Then he realizes what he's done. With a sobbing laugh, he cries, "You are MINE, not Red Hawk's!" He staggers back and disappears to reappear on his ship. Maria won't let Ryu near to help her. She stands, blood dripping down her sleeves. She tells him that she cannot return to the life she had led. Her hands are drenched in blood. She tells him to forget her. Gure appears and she shrinks back into his arms. They disappear together. He carries her into the ocean. "Is this what you wanted?" he asks her. She tells him "No. I was lying. I wanted to live. And I wanted to stay with him." She dies in his arms, whispering Ryu's name. Her body disintegrates in Gure's tears. Ryu on a cliff weeps, somehow sensing her death.

Gai and Kaori are semi-made up. They sit together watching Ryu and Lyta race in boats across a lake. Kaori says hopefully, "I think he's recovering from Rie's death." Gai says, "Do you really think so?" in a tone of clear doubt. Working on the Jet Striker, Ryu loses it and takes off to the place where he'd last seen Radiege. He is ready for the final battle, ready to fight to the death. The other Jetmen head after him, but they encounter Gure on the way. Gure and Gai stand together for a duel. The other Jetmen continue off after Ryu. Ryu and Radiege are in the midst of battle, their strikes even more vicious than ever before. No holds barred. Ryu tells the others to stay out of the fight. Meanwhile, Gai nearly dies in the battle with Gure, but manages to fire Gure's own weapon giving a fatal wound. Dying, Gure asks Gai to light his cigar. As his power fades out, his soul releases his body and wings its way to join Maria. Kaori is injured protecting Ryu. While Lyta and Ako fight Radiege, Ryu takes her aside to doctor her wounds in an abandoned shack. She lectures him with all her heart about how his thoughts and feelings are a danger to them all if he only thinks of himself. As she speaks, Rie's ghost manifests, taking over and Ryu turns to see her. Their conversation is sweet and sad, he comes to hold her, weeping, and she leaves, so it is Kaori in his arms. Together they come out to fight Radiege. Gai arrives. The team forms a firebird. Radiege tranforms into the giant monster that has been appearing and doing nothing for all this time. As the sun sets, they begin to fight.
