Building contractor Oliver Griebnitz fell from the roof terrace of his loft. Murder or suicide? Susanne Kröhmer, a lawyer specializing in juvenile criminal law, blames herself. Oliver was her childhood sweetheart, maybe she could have helped him. Alex Moravek, journalist and childhood friend of Susanne and Oliver, believes there is a murder and begins to research. At the same time, the death of Oliver set in motion an avalanche of events that Susanne swiftly carried away: resignation of the building senator, dissolution of the grand coalition, new elections in the city. And suddenly Susanne sees her chance to really change something in the city.

Election campaign manager Georg Lassnitz develops a PR strategy to sell the chaos in Susanne's private life to the outside world. "You are a lousy, manipulative piece, Georg," says Susanne and Lassnitz nods: "Whatever serves the cause." At the same time, Susanne has to win a vote in the Senate and somehow put five renegades from her own party under pressure and convince them of their cause. Journalist Alex helps her, but during research he realizes that Susanne's father is not playing a clean game. On the face of it, he's always there for his daughter - but what about behind the scenes? And soon Susanne wonders whether it could be that she was betrayed by her own father.

A leak in the campaign team! Susanne and Georg Lassnitz discover the mole and in return they immediately steal an idea from Degenhardt's campaign. Susanne's poll numbers rise. Lassnitz and they do not always agree, but their cooperation is effective. In addition, Susanne uses her young client Jussuf Antun, who is sitting in the JVA West, as a model candidate for her initiative for criminal juvenile offenders to advertise for her. Meanwhile, journalist Alex breaks into the apartment of the dead Oliver Griebnitz and finds out that years ago an accountant who had something to do with the machinations of Susanne's father KK, Degenhardt and Oliver's father disappeared.
