The successful retreat at the Gate of No Retreat brings the Ingelmian advance to a halt, and puts the war into a stalemate. As Ingelmia tries to secure an invasion route, Arandas is forced to rebuild its army. The 8th Unit is officially given Argevollen, and Jamie is ordered to remain with them.
