Sarah Rambaldi, famous - and wealthy - plastic surgeon is found strangled in a squalid hotel room. Her husband, Michel, believed her to be in Lille where she went one week a month to teach. Commander Marquand and Judge Alice Nevers discover that Sarah had made large - and unusual - cash withdrawals a few days before the murder. Very quickly, a first suspect is designated. The fingerprints of Serge Francard, hitman recently escaped from prison, are found at the crime scene and on personal belongings of the victim...
