Next time you visit Italy and you decide to go to an Italian cafe for a nice cup of espresso, you will notice that in some Italian cafes (especially southern than Rome) they will also bring you a glass of water. Why do you get a glass of water with your coffee in Italy? The glass of water is supposed to clean your palate before drinking the coffee. Some people also have the water after the coffee to remove the bitterness of some coffee flavours. Did you know this? Did you ever receive water with your coffee in Italy?
