Athens, spring 1943. Magliveras considers Boatman and Maria to be accomplices in the theft of the "harpist", a Cycladic figurine, which disappeared from the museum. He decides to get Maria out of the way by staging an accident on stage. In rehearsals, the two of them strongly deny the love that lurks beneath. On the one hand, Maria must bypass Magliveras, to investigate Boatman's strange action regarding the harpist, and on the other hand, Magliveras must get rid of Maria, to get to the harpist...
