Son of the Petit Dauphin (died in 1712), grandson of the Grand Dauphin (died in 1711) and great-grandson of Louis XIV, he succeeded him under the regency of Philippe d'Orléans, nephew of the deceased king, until his majority in 1723. He was consecrated in Reims on October 25, 1722. Died of smallpox.
