A gentleman wants to hire Nero Wolfe to find out why a friend of his cousin was murdered by poisoned candy, but his family is totally against this investigation. His cousin's father realizes that the poisoning may have been aimed at him. As he is consulting with Nero Wolfe, he also dies of poisoning. Then the case takes an even stranger twist.
