Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is known for being an aviation pioneer and a celebrated writer. But one part of his life is less well-known: his war story. Yet it is arguably the most important part of his existence. For it was in the midst of World War II that Saint-Exupéry fought for France and Liberty. And it was in 1943, while in exile in New York, that he wrote his masterpiece: The Little Prince. And most importantly, it was on July 31, 1944, in the middle of an aerial reconnaissance mission, that he mysteriously disappeared aboard his plane. For more than 50 years, his plane remained undiscovered... until September 7, 1998, and the miraculous discovery of a clue by a Marseille fisherman!
