Fancy rattan chairs, garden loungers and side tables. Today it is hardly possible to buy wood without seals and certificates. Many of them certify sustainability. They are supposed to assure us that forests that have been cut down grow back quickly and that everything is done ecologically and responsibly. But the wood products sold in our stores as sustainable are causing robbery, displacement, even murder in Indonesia. While indigenous residents of Borneo and Sumatra fear for their habitat and existence, Indonesian logging companies and plantation operators are doing business worldwide - also with the help of German certificates.
